It doesn't have to create more anxiety but it can. When you talk about what you are afraid of it can bring on the adrenalin. However, this is temporary and actually good. The feelings are what we fear so to experience them using your tools helps us to desensitize from them. Avoiding these feelings is the problem. Facing them is the solution to the problem.

My anxiety was far worse a few years ago after my first panic attack than it is now, but it still lingers. The program digs up some old feelings for sure, but it forces you to face them head on and actually think about what caused all of it. I'm really looking forward to the next steps.

I to have had a tough time with extra anxiety as I'm often so consumed with myself and how I feel. Can anyone share with me how they managed to get out of thinking about themselves and all the negative chatter that goes with it??
I find I'm more afraid of being with my thoughts than I am of the anxiety symptoms. It's like not wanting to be alone because of what all goes on in my head.
When I'm working with replacing some thoughts, it's like there are a million of them to "replace" and I'm not able to even keep up!
Thanks to anyone who can offer some help.
M

Martin70 I just looked at your post. I always hated being alone too, but never realized it was because of all the scary thoughts I think. What seems to work for me is to visualize a place in my head that I love being. The ocean for one. With the 1 good thought going on I don't have room for others. Back tracking a little.......first I tell myself to STOP these thoughts and then visualize a nice happy safe place. Give it a try.

Yes, I can relate to the feeling that the program causes more anxiety. It IS hard to face up to some of this stuff, and I feel a LOT overwhelmed by all the CDs, journaling, videos, etc. that go into it. I feel guilty that I haven't started exercising and that, despite being on CD3, I have only listened to the relaxation CD once (though it did help!). I don't want to do this "wrong" and sabotage my chances for success, but sometimes I get overwhelmed and need to take a break . . .anyone else with me on this?
