Hello, Im 22 yrs old and have been dealing with really bad anxiety or a while. Right now my main problem is that I have a hard time breathing and I feel that I cant eat. So im not eating well. My doc gave me some xanax (.25 mg). In the last 2 weeks I have taken about 2 of those, I have never taken the whole pill, I take half. I do feel that it relaxes me a bit, but I still feel a little anxious. But the thing that is really getting me is the eating part. I WANT TO EAT, but somehow I feel that I cant. So I would like to get some advice on whether I should just take the pill daily, Im scare about getting addicted to it.

Personally I have to take a xanax to eat in many situations. That is the only time I take one unless I'm having an actual attack. Anyhow, you might want to take it daily until you can deal with your feelings. How far into the program are you?

I am going to the doctor today for the first time in 2 years to get back on medication. I know someone who takes lexipro I thinks that is it. She can't eat either but just takes a half a pill instead. I would take the medicine because that is the only way it will work. But as far as eating talk to your doctor they might be able to switch you to something else that does not affect you as much. Each drug affects everyone differently. I used to take paxil a few years ago and I was told it does not really work untill it is in you system for two weeks. It has to build up. So I would take you medicine.

Hi Henry,
I also had this problem with my last bout of anxiety 2 years ago. can you swallow liquids? I could swallow liquids OK, but not food. I got pretty thin, plus I was nursing my baby, but I survived and thankfully I don't have this problem with swallowing much anymore.

To help, sometimes I would tell myself that I'd never choked before and that I was a really great swallower. It actually helped sometimes.

Good luck to you, I know how it feels though, and it sucks!
