Well...I am 25 and ready to start a family. I really want to try to get pregnant this fall. I'm a teacher and need to plan it with my school schedule. However, I'm on cymbalta. My doctor said it was safe to take it until the third trimester. I just have these fears that I will go off it and my anxiety will get worse. He said he could give me something safe to take while pregnant like zoloft. I'm also afraid that I won't be a good mother because of my anxiety problems. Any suggestions?

i understand the fears of goingthrough a pregnancy with anxiety, trust me :) first, i'd take your meds, or zoloft, whatever makes you comfortable, and also get in touch with hormones, they will be a cause of many emotions/anxiety all their own and you need to be compassionate with yourself about it all. trust me, pregnancy is going to bring a lot of anxiety on, but thats ok it's completely normal, there's a person inside of you! haha

i have a 2 and a half year old, and we're thinking of trying for another in the summer, my anxiety criples me at times so much so that i wont leave the house. i have often thought i was a bad mom bc of the anxiety but i know i'm not, regardless of my fears i always try to show her everything, teach her all i can, and love love love her! also having this condition helps you teach your kids how to cope, it's nce to see the cycle be broken, having kids is anxiety producing, but that's just another chapter in life. it's totally worth it, and a wonderful gift in your life. don't let the fear rule you. good luck.

Alli,

Maybe if you are scared about changing meds than maybe you should ask your doctor to go ahead and change it now and see what it does for you. Have you already tried zoloft? Maybe if you know how it makes you feel than you could feel more comfortable.

Jennifer's idea is a great one. This summer, while you're out of working, try the med your doctor recommended and see what happens.
