Are We All Sensitive To Different Things?
In the program, it tells you to avoid sugar, caffeine, nicotiene, alcohol. Going through the program I stuck to this, I went of everything to a point where I was scared of all these substances. It then got to the point where I said forget this and gradually went back onto them all, I discovered I was fine with sugar, caffeine and nicotiene, I had no problems, alcohol was a problem though. But I know others who can have alcohol and are fine, no anxiety, then theres others who can't have caffeine. Are we all different when it comes to these types of thing?
When I started the program I too went off all the 'offending' substances and have since slowly added them back. I akin it to the south beach or atkins diet where you have that 'detox' period and then you can add things back. The truth is caffeine, alcohol, sugar, and the like do make anxiety and stress worse. In my case, once I had some tools to deal with the anxiety and got it under control, I felt I could drink moderately, have one cup of coffee a day, and have my occasional goody. There are health benefits for all of them and heck, I enjoy them!
Some people will say "no, never" to them, and for them, that is probably what they need to keep their anxiety under control. For others, they can partake moderately and be fine.
Don't make too much out of it either way, because that alone is a source of anxiety. Remember what Lucinda said "stop shoulding all over yourself"!
