This weekend my son has a soccer tournament about 1.5 hours away. I am very scared to go. We are supposed to leave in a ferw hours and I can already feel the anxiety rushing in. I am very shakey, I feel a little light-headed and most of all, I am on edge!

I don't want to disappoint my son by not going, but I am extremely nervous about it. I realize that if I don't go, I am letting the panic win.

Please help!

Beth

Try not to think about being nervous or panic. Usually thinking about getting nevrvous or panicking makes it worse. 1.5 hours isn't too bad. Just try breathing and thinking about postitive things that will come out of going.

If you could take your relaxation cd with you, that might help too! If you need to - stop the car every 15 or 20 minutes and get out and walk around a bit...and breathe! :)

Your son is really going to apprecaite you being there - and you will be happy that you were able to watch him compete in such an important event!

Congratulations! Go team!! :)
Blessings,
Dawn

one thing that always helps me is just realizing that i've been through the anxiety and panic before, and i've always come out the other end allright. good luck and God bless.

Beth - Make it OK to be anxious. Tell yourself: Oh, there you are anxiety. I kind of knew you'd show up. Your welcome to come along to the game.

That's it. End of discussion. Just welcome it and allow it to be there. It's your projection of the event that is the only problem. A suggestion was to bring your cd with. Great idea. Focus on listening to the words while you are driving there. Talk soothing to yourself. Right now you are fear rehearsing. Instead let yourself know that you can handle the feelings that arise. The truth is, you can.
