I have been taking Xanax regularly (.25mg four times a day)for about two months now for extreme anxiety and panic as well as Effexor 225mg. My anxiety is still around, but the panic seemed to have disappeared until today. I had a full blown panic attack which worries me because I am on Xanax as well as effexor and I am also working the program. Why would the panic go away for awhile and then all of a sudden come back? Has anyone else experienced a panic attack while on Xanax? I though that Xanax was suppossed to sto panic attacks from happening.

I took the same mg. when i took mine and i used to get panic attacks on them, Plus they only lasted for like 2 hours anyway. I cant be on pills, they scare me and give me more anxiety but yeah, i think it's completely possible. There's no magic pill to stop anxiety...i wish there was though, haha. Good luck :)

How long had it been since you took your last xanax? If you are taking it all the time and not
(when you have an attack) then I would say its absolutly possible to have an attack just out of the blue like that. I think your body is used to having the xanax so it wouldnt have calmed you down if you had taken it some hours beforehand.

Actually, this happended to my aunt. She said it was even worse than how she was before starting Xanax. When she spoke to her doctor or pharmacist, I can't remember, they said she was having rebound anxiety from it. My aunt was so scared and mad at that she just stopped taking it and said she'll never touch it again. (she had been taking it for like 2 months as needed).

my doctor prescribed Xanax 3 times a day as needed, then he said take only when needed, well of course I need it! Im anxious! well I've been on it for 2 years, I dont take it as much anymore, but I still get the panic attacks.this is why I ordered the program!I have 2 weeks on the program, do you guys think this program has helped you?I dont want to take medication anymore, my doctor says I can get off it anytime, but sometimes i doubt it. Has anybody been able to get off the meds?

I have taken Xanax for years and it has helped most of the time. My new doctor told me it's like taking a glass of wine. He is weaning me off the Xanax and given me Prozac which is actually for depression AND anxiety. I have reduced my use of xanax by half and have had no panic attacks recently.

No but I have really bad panic attacks, about 2 times a day, and the only med that I'm on is Effexor 75 mg. I just recently got out of treatment and I started getting the attacks after I got out of treatment. I'm kind of confused about why, but I have OCD, GAD, and PTSD from my grandpa molesting me last year in December.

I use Xanax as needed.....meaning when a panic comes and I am not able to recover from it I use Xanax as one of my tools. I use to keep it in my system to help keep me calm but I don't recall it ever stating it will prevent panic attacks. So why have a toxic in my system if it can't help with preventitive? Basically your system does create a tolerance to xanax if taken repeatitively. To know if Xanax is working for you does, it calm you down after you take one after experiencing an episode? You wont know if your consistenly taking it....Try breathing more deeply and see how quickly that helps with anxiety....

Blessings Always

I was still very anxious and restless after taking a Xanax. It didn't really calm me down, but then again the doctor prescribed me a very low dosage. Sometimes you just have to face the panic head on. Try breathing and other relaxation techniques. Sometimes it helps get a grasp on the panic before it goes into a full blown attack.

I have been on xanax for about 4 years now. When I was first prescribed I was started on .25mg twice a day (3 times if needed but I never took it 3 times.) At first it was wonderful in controlling my panic attacks and if I felt like one was coming on it generally faded after taking the xanax. However this past year my symptoms started resurfacing after some stressful events in my life and I felt it was not working at all. My Dr. upd my dosage to .05 and told me I could take just half of one 3 times daily if a whole was too much. I have been afraid to take a whole one at one time since a half of one makes me sleep all night. (I know that doesn't sound like a bad thing, I just don't want to be drowsy all the time.) This time I am having alot of other symptoms, however for the few hours after I take half a xanax I can seem to cope better. I definately think depending on the situation a panic attack can still occur while taking xanax, also when our bodies become adjusted to it it doesn't seem to work as well.
