Just about two months ago the doctor's found out that I was anemic... Just last week it was determined that it was due to an iron deficiency using further blood work.

So I go to the grocery store to stock up on spinach and vitamins and the cashier tells me about farina (100% daily intake of iron)and Blackstrap molasses (20% daily intake of iron)... well this must have been God inspired. In addition, I purchased the liquid vitamins with iron and had farina along with a Tablespoon of Blackstrap... AND I felt like I use to feel four years ago before all of this moving to California... when I lived in Texas four years ago I was not anemic... Wow, wow, wow!!!... being iron deficient made me feeellll sooooo lathargic for an entire year I did not have the energy to mop the kitchen floor... I thought that I was having a depressive episode but after the Blackstrap, I swept and mopped the kitchen floor, opened the 40 letters on my desk, cleared off my desk , washed the kitchen patio window sliding door (wow), swept and mopped the front hall ... I did not feel hypomanic (for those of you who are familiar with Bipolar manic depression and know what you feel like when you are manic/hypomanic)... this feeling of energy was not erratic or too fast it was just a relief... and all of the cleaning that I generally would have done, I now had a desire to do (WOW) and this was just from the iron!!! And when I got tired the Lord put his Super on my natural... AWESOME.... so some who think that they are having a depressive episode may just be deficient in a particular vitamin or mineral and this is what throws them entirely off... AMAZING... Now I understand why my sister would just sit around the house most of the time... we thought that she was depressed but she has been anemic all her life.

I hope this helps someone. Having any type of vitamin or mineral deficiency is presumably easy to detect with blood work by your physician. I highly recommend it... along with good nutrition to replace these naturally (using food that is high in that which you are lacking) :)

Hi,
Thanks for posting! I have tried various supplements (some help, some don't), as I've either been pregnant or breastfeeding for almost the past 8 years! I'm sure I've got some type of deficiency, an alternative doc (regular MD who turned 'natural) told me that my adrenals were very deficient. I've been trying to stay away from sugar because sugar KILLS the adrenals, some days I do better than others. It truely is an addiction and very hard to stop.

Take care, I am going to get some blackstrap molasses and use your suggestion.

This is what I found in more further research on the net:

<A HREF="http://www.moondragon.org/obgyn/anemia/ ... iency.html" TARGET=_blank>http://www.moondragon.or/obgyn/anemia/g ... cy.html</A>

Even though this is a link for G6PD deficiency (which is some type of enzyme deficiency in your blood), it includes a table for how you nutritionally treat Iron-deficiency anemia (naturally)scroll down to the table...

adults ingest 1 Tablespoon daily at two different times... I only take 1 Tablespoon for the day...along with my multi-vitamin with iron and the Floradix Iron Plus Herbs liquid supplement.

Cream of Wheat includes enriched farina that you get from any grocery store.

But I've heard that Farina can be purchased from the health store, like Whole Foods, Henrys, or Trader Joes...

(I just found this site yesterday...I just ignored the fact the of the name of the midwife service... )

I found it because during my research of Psychotic Manic episodes, I found out from a General Psychiatry web site that some people who are manic are G6PD deficient... it's described in detail more on the link above. So I'm thinking that these manic episodes may be deterred with property nutrition building up the G6PD... still researching this one.

Turns out the Cream of Wheat and Farina are the same:
