Hi all,
I have had issues with obssesive yawning for about 10 years now. I noticed it started when I noticed the worring and anxiety. Does anyone experience this and if so what does it mean?
Yawning!
Usually excessive yawning is due to shallow breathing. Do you practice your breath work daily and often? When you first begin this practice you will also notice yawning. Your body will eventually adapt to the deep breath and you will calm yourself with it as you begin to use it automatically.
Practice and see if the obsessive yawning passes.

I have been doing the deep breathing for months now and I pretty much do it 1 to 2x's a day. I noticed that I recognize my breathing alot and then tend to control it until my mind is distracted that bothers me as well. I am pregnant and worry is the baby getting enough H2O or too much. I don't know I am just having a couple of bad days.
Thanks,
Candi
P.S. Any advice would be great on the recognized breathing thing too..

It's good to be aware of your breath because so many of us breath shallowly. Being aware reminds you to breathe properly. You don't have to try to control it, Candi, nor do you need to let it bother you. (Bothering you is resistance. Resistance creates more tension and more shallow breathing.) Remind yourself to "just breathe" and don't be so focused on the "how" to do it. It will regulate itself. Remind yourself, too, that you are breathing fine.
Also, shallow breathing will not hurt you. It's not very calming but it will not hurt you. You can handle it and function through it. When you let go of resistance you will breathe much more evenly and calmly.
Keep practicing your calm breath but try the following instead:
Breathe in slowly
Hold for 4 counts
Breathe out slowly through pursed lips
Practice as often as you want and put one hand on your chest and one on your diaphragm. You want to be breathing from your diaphragm. Shallow breathing is from the lungs. After your practice time is over, let it go and go about your day as you normally would.

I yawn a lot too (w/anxiety) but don't always get the best sleep either and am always tired. Hang in there...
