I have read the posts and see that Kolonopin or the generic version Clonazepam has been prescribed for people on a daily basis however, my doctor told me I can take it as needed. Has anyone taken it just as needed and found it helpful....

I thought just as Xanax and Ativan it can be taken on an as needed basis.

You can take it as needed. If you end up taking it everyday for a while you may need to taper off of it rather than stop it suddenly which can be dangerous. It can definately be taken "as needed" though.

Yes I have also taken Klonopin as needed. I switched to xanax due to the side effects of it. Becareful with doses on a needed daily basis......thats when stopping suddenly can be dangerous. Be aware of when as needed accurate.

Hi, my husband takes Clonazapam when he needs it but it doesn't seem to work as well anymore. He doesn't take it daily, but if he knows that he is going somewhere he will take it. He is an agoriphobic, and suffers from anxiety. He says that once he is worked up it doesn't help. The doctor tried him on Lexapro and he took one dose and it freeked him out so he wouldn't take it again. He is so afraid to take medications. We ordered the program a year ago and he started it but didn't continue. I am trying to get him to start again. Does anyone have any comments on how it is working for them? I am ready to lose my mind!

I was supposed to take Clonazepam when needed when it was first prescribed for me. I now take 1/2 tablet in the morning and 1 1/2 at night to help me sleep. It definitely seems to make me a bit sleepy, and calms me somewhat, but it sure isn't as good as xanax in getting rid of panic and anxiety. I was told it does lose its potency after taking it for some time. I guess it helps.....

Pearls - I take clonazepam as needed, too.

desperate housewife2 - Try listening to it with him? Maybe your support and encouragement will help him get started on the program again even if he has to start from the beginning?

I'm on session 4. Sometimes it's difficult, especially when you're trying to break away from the old habits. It's working well for me though and I enjoy it very much. It's really helpful. I was basically agoraphobic last month and that feeling of extreme anxiety is beginning to subside, but you really have to work on doing exactly what the program suggests. It's difficult to start anything new, and it's normal for someone to become disinterested or feel it's not working at one point or another, but there's nothing wrong with starting over. It's not easy, but the peace of mind you begin to feel, the coping mechanisms and strategies the program gives us, well, just read the workbook if he hasn't written in it yet lets you know more of the details...it's helpful to talk to each other about it. I discuss some of the things with my husband and mom. Their support and the program have helped me tremendously. It's taken time, but I'm noticing the changes in myself more and more each day.

I wish the best for the both of you.

...but I always wish all the best for everyone! :D
