Hi all! I used to join in on discussions and post all the time. I haven't been on stress center for about a year now. I have really come a long way and I am very proud of myself. I no longer have panic attacks or GENERAL anxiety. Thanks to this program that saved my life!
The thing I just can't seem to beat and I'm having major problems with right now is the doctor! I have this phobia of getting my blood pressure taken. Some thing takes hold of me when I step foot in the doctors office my heart pounds out of my chest and my BP raised to 180/90. I have resorted to buying a blood pressure machine to make sure I don't have highg blood pressure. I'm obsessed with it and take it all the time, along with my husbands LOL. It is normal at home exept my pulse rate is high. I found a really good doctor who I trusted going too, and she just retired. Now I have to go through this all over again. I want to have a baby so bad, but theres no way I can handle all the doctors appointments. When I go to doctors they look at me like I'm crazy and are so rude! Has any gone through fear of doctors, BP, and health phobias that has figured out a way of coping. Or had a baby while having these phobias?? I would appreciate any support:)
Feeling really low right now! Any advice??

you and are just alike..when i go my heart rate goes up and so does my BP.but tell the dr. that you are excited or anxious and they tend to understand..example. i had to go to the cardologist and have a stint put in above my hip..i did not have good circulation and after i got it done they set up an appt to do the other side and could not get through that day to put a stint in.
when i came back i had circulation where none was before. he was amazed.he asked if i had been walking and i told him yes and praying too. he said the praying must have done it..he cancelled the appt..he did not seem at all concerned about the BP or rapid heart rate.i can walk and do things i could not do because of my hip..hope that helps and good luck and, be blessed.

Hi JenMelberg & "D"
I can relate to the fear of doctors. I have not gone for a long time but when I did my heart would always race. Luckily I have not had a reason and am healthy. When I even think of going to the doctor I change my thoughts to forget. I will have to work on that in the future but right now I am doing session 3 which will probably help this also. There are so many things coming to the surface..and I will work through it with the help of each session.
This is a great program. The Best of luck to you. I think once we have completed the program we will benefit to listen to it again and again!

This is a new and big phobia for me right now. I take a low dose of a beta blocker (bp medicine) for anxiety right now. Even so, after a few weeks of severe health anxiety I went to the dr. and my always low bp was high. I went to several more doctors (Hypochondriac) and it was always high. My dr. said he is going to check it again in a month when my anxiety settles down and see if I need to be on bp medicine.
The thing is that I have become so phobic of the "cuff" that when I visit my parents if I have my dad take my bp it is high because I immediately panic when I see that stupid cuff.
I know EXACTLY what you mean about doctors. I WISH I could take a tranquilizer before I go to one but I guess that would defeat the purpose!
Good luck. I'm still trying to figure it out myself!!!

Hi Shakey Susie,
I don't like doctors because they always want to prescribe drugs. I'm afraid of drugs as I've had some bad allergic reactions such as penicillin etc. I know people that are always taking their BP or testing for Diabetes because they MIGHT come down with it? The TV commercials are very intimidating in our society. However I'm not a doctor and sometimes we need to take medication but we are so programmed that it's sad we have such drug-induced thinking.
Take good care of yourself. If you have a condition that needs to be treated with medication then by all means take it. The only suggestion I have is to listen to your tapes and see which of these problems can be treated by going through the sessions in our program.
Best to you

Thanks for the response, I don't feel as alone. Shaky Susie that is funny funny about the "cuff"! I am the same way! I see it and freak out! I too agree about medicines. I am afraid of all the drugs that are prescibed, and most the time they cause more problems. I have polisistic ovaries and my doctor put me on diabetes medicine for my ovaries, even though I'm not diabetic???
