For three years I was on xanax, then my doc switched me to valium, and he has now started me on Cymbalta because he wants me on that and off the valium. I just took my first pill yesterday.
I do not like the way I feel. I know that these drugs take days and even weeks to "adjust" in your system, but I feel almost sick.
I would sincerely appreciate any advice you have to offer!!!
Thanks,
Sandina
Has anyone been presecribed Cymbalta for anxiety?
Hi Sandina!
I wouldn't be too quick to jump on your new feelings yet. I haven't been on any of the meds you have listed, but I have been on many others...and each time I am switched, I feel strange too. The most noticeable reaction is my fingers and toes shocking as if I was sticking them in an outlet. This is your brains' natural reaction to the chemical change. The receptors in your brain have to adjust to the new chemical that it is now being fed. Also, you are probably experiencing withdraw symptoms from the Valium. Don't worry yet....keep an eye on it, and maybe journal it if there are alot of symptoms, so you can show your doctor if they do not cease in a few weeks....but do give it time, and try to keep thinking positive. Positive thinking will help, too!
Take care

Hi. I've been prescribed Cymbalta for depression. I've been taking it for about a month now. My doctor started me off with 30 mg and then increased the dosage to 60 mg. It's the first anti-depressant I've been on since Zoloft which I took for about 6 months in 2001.
I experienced the same sensations in my legs, toes and fingers as JennaK described a sort of *tingling* sensation but I guess that's because my body and brain had to adjust to the meds. I don't feel the sensation as much anymore and I haven't had any seriouse side effects. As a matter of fact I've been feeling much better than I have in a long time.

I was on Cymbalta for about 3 years. This definately takes some time for your body to get used to. There will be a feeling of nausea, tiredness, and sloshy head feeling. It takes a couple of weeks for this to go away. Yes, I wanted to sleep all the time, but eventually that went away too. It worked for my anxiety/depression for the most part, but it gave me this feeling of not really caring about anything.
