I actually went to a SCA meeting which is like for the medevial Fair. But it is like practice. I have been wanting to go for months and finally I got the courage up and would not allow my mind to talk me out of it, Like I have been doing.
I don't think that without this program that I would have been able to do that.
I overcame my fear this evening & I went out...
Hi there,
I myself faced a fear of mine yesterday. I've always been the type to where if I have the opportunity to go somewheres the next day, I tend to get overwhelmed and not fall asleep. And as soon as it is drawing close to the time to leave for wherever I was considering going, my mind gets exhausted and starts convincing me that I could just fall asleep now, that I am too exhausted to go. I usually give in every single time to sleep, and miss out on an opportunity to get out and enjoy myself.
I also fear I will panic or get too depressed to handle myself on a long car ride with someone.
Yesterday I had to deal with both of those. I had been awake over 24 hours and was exhausted beyond belief. But I told myself this: "Dustin you spent your entire life so far hiding from and dodging everything you even semi had a fear about. This has to stop, and no better time to start other than NOW."
So I smiled to myself, got ready to leave, and spent the majority of the day with my mother. We went thrift store shopping together out of town. I faced a fear of mine, and I couldn't be more proud of myself. You should be to. No matter how seemingly "simple" an accomplishment might look to others, any accomplishment is just as big as the next. We are all in this together. To the future...
Peace & Love

AWESOME to both of you!!!! There is no small victory. They are ALL big. Reward yourselves. Use your tools while going through a challenging time and you'll go through more and more of them because you'll soon find out that YOU CAN HANDLE IT!
Stop Sign when first scarey or negative thoughts appear.
Calm breath - inhale, hold to the count of 4, then exhale slowly.
Then move to something that takes you out of your head. Focus on what you are doing as intently as you can.
Great job!
