So today I had to report for jury duty, and I was a little nervous, but I just kept telling myself that I was going to be okay, it was okay to feel a little anxious, but I could get through it. At one point when the judge was talking about the case my heart started beating faster but I just kinda said to myself "Oh yeah, that's my heart. It's okay. I;m going to be okay." Before I started this program I would've been telling myself a bunch of negative stuff and making myself feel worse, but not today! I initially thought that when I had no anxiety I would be "cured", but now I've realized after listening to Lucinda, that I will have anxiety, but it's what I tell myself that will determine if I have a good or a bad experience.

aleisa..I know what you mean..even just going to a far place gives me anxiety..but this Saturday..I have to meet my new recruiter for a new business I'm starting..I figured it would be good for me because I can work from home..but I'm supposed to meet her in a mall..25 minutes away..I know my heart is probably going to start pounding and I'm probably going to be dizzy..but I'm just going to try to use my breathing and bring my book with me..try to think positive because I know this will be a good experience for me..I just have to push myself out of my comfort zone..

I'm feeling better too these past few days and i may be because I'm working the program. I was putting myself down because I'm in week two and still drinking caffeine -- though I've cut down a bit. Then I read in the workbook that it may take a while to stop/change these habits, so I feel better about that. And just generally I'm feeling better; I'm not having to talk myself out of panic attacks as often as I did as recently as last week.

So I think I can say that it's working for me, too.

But I know me. I know that this 15 week program will need to be a 30 week program for me to "get it." I plan to work through the program twice.

My philosophy is: If X is good for Y, the 2X is twice as good for Y.

I've found out that philosophy does not hold true when it comes to drinking alcohol or working a 40 hour week, but I'm hoping it will hold true for this program.

Peace to all.

lol David, good philosophy. I just want to say that the coffee cutback happened slow. Right now I might have a cup a week. It used to be 4 a day. Thanks for comments.

Davidman..I know what you mean..I don't like anyone pushing me quicker to get better..I like to take my own pace that I feel comfortable..if it takes two weeks..ok..as long as it becomes engrained in my lifestyle..As far as the coffee..I've changed to decaf..and they also have half/caf..Lately I've been drinking decaf coffee -one in the morning-maybe one later..and decaf icetea..also chamomile tea is soothing and calming and it's naturally decafeinated..My problem is cutting back on sugar..i'm going to try to change to stevia..it's sweet and i'ts a natural fiber..it has a slight after taste, but I think I can get used to it...

Thanks, ivorysongbird and Spark, for the assurance that, with time, I can cut out the caffeine. I really like hot tea, though I rarely drink it. Next week, when I get to the office in the mornings, rather than loading my single-cup coffee maker with a pod of strong dark roast, I'll load it with decaf tea. (Of course, I will still have had my coffee at home but, hey, I'm taking this one step at a time.) So thanks for the decaf tea idea.
