During my googling session I came across this site <A HREF="http://www.triroc.com/sunnen/topics/hypn&anxiety.htm" TARGET=_blank>http://www.triroc.com/sunnen/topics/hypn&anxiety.htm</A>
Here is the extract that worries me
Is the anxiety a part of another psychiatric syndrome? Anxiety weaves into most psychiatric syndromes. Major depression is rarely seen without it, and so is mania. Schizophrenia, especially in the decompensation phase, as the individual experiences ego fragmentation, can be marked by fright--as can organic brain syndromes with their cognitive disruptions. Treatment of anxiety in these conditions is centered on correcting the global psychiatric syndrome.
Its on about anxiety being part of other mental illnesses.

I read that and I would not worry too much about it. I mean The way that I think about it is that Depression itself is a mental Ilness...I do not stress about being considered to have a mental illness.
But as far as Anxiety being apart of mental illness I would say that makes sense only because think about a person who for example hears voices.... wouldn't that make him or her anxious?
So my advice is not to let that bother you.
I know that is easier said than done but we are not mentally ill. We are just Anxious.
I suffer from Depression, Anxiety, Paranoia and Adult ADD.

Hello Nirelandguy. For people like us, who tend to be hypocondriacs, googling is not the best thing for us to do. On the internet you are going to find all kinds of scary things with the same symptoms you have. The bible said "seek and ye shall find". I think this applies here because if you go googling believe me, you are always going to find something, and more often, it will be something that you don't want to see.
Stop looking for stuff that you don't want to know once you find it.

If you think about it, having ANY terrible disease will cause anxiety. I know if I didn't "have" anxiety, and was diagnosed with cancer, I would most certainly get some anxiety. I was even on an anxiety medication with a side effect of anxiety, lol. Trust me, stay off google and webmd. Those 2 sites introduced me to another 100 diseases I knew nothing about that I now worry about, lol.
