I get thoughts of suicide that scare the life out of me. Its not that I want to do it I don't I love life even with anxiety but they are constantly there, Suicide and death seem to be a big thing for me and I notice it alot more now, Its like if you where planning on buying a red porche, you probably wouldn't have noticed them before but now they seem to be everywhere. Suicide seems to be everywhere, in the newspapers, on the TV, I was flicking TV lastnight and the shawshankredemption was on, And sods law I flicked it over just as an old guy tip himself of a chair and hung himself. :( I had scarey dreams about that all night.

One thing that worries me is there is a law of the universe which says what you focus on constantly you sub conciously work towards, I know this law to be true as I have focused on say getting a new job, I got that new job, same with a house.

Any help appreciated

HELLO,
I know the feeling, the only thing I can say helps me is the fact I would never put my daughter through something like that, She would be devastaed. It is something I could not imagine doing. I see on your mysapce you are a proud parent. That should be your main focus.

Hey Nire, I agree with Shawn because when that thought enters my brain it is my sons and grandkids that chase that thought away. I believe the reason the suicide even comes up is because it is a choice when thinking how you are going to change your life or plan for something. Even though it is an unrealistic choice it is there just the same. So keep thinking of those kidoes and keep writting in you have helped many folks on here, Bruce

Nire We are here for a purpose. It is a miricle that we are even here. My father and grandmother comited suicide, i'm so glad that it dosn't run in the family.
We arn't really here for this physical life at all. God has a future plan for us. Sometimes life here in this flesh really sucks. We are supose to learn things in this flesh, lots of things. Come on now. The other day I asked God to please send his kingdom soon, even right now. If He is going to send it sooner or later anyway, why not now, this world is wicked enough. Come now Lord to give me my spirit body so all my pain and suffering will be gone, i'm sick of it. A thought, not really a voice, but a thought poped into my mind. The thought that accured to me was He isn't done with us living in the flesh yet. We still need to learn more in this flesh vesel that we dwell in. He is prepairing us for a eturnal life of peace and joy where no bad is. It is tough at times to cope with this life, but that is required of us.You don't belong to you. You belong to your hevenly Father. He requires you to go through this life right along with the rest of us. I'm going to make it to the very end, right up to my natural death. So are you, right.

I was having such a tough time with these kind of thoughts a few months ago. It is actually a fairly normal obsessive thought for folks like us. My therapist told me that thoughts of suicide can be seen as hopeful in that they indicate that we want an end to the emotional pain we're in because of anxiety, OCD, etc.

The important thing to remember is that these thoughts scare and upset you. If you really wanted to end your life, you would find these thoughts comforting.

Feel better.

Hi Nire,
I have also had the experience of focusing on things and bringing them into my life. Such as not wanting to be trapped in a job like my father and guess what? I watched that movie "The Secret," and now I'm paranoid about my thoughts.

I don't know if the creators of The Secret had people like us in mind (people with anxiety disorders) when they created it. As if we can just shut off our thoughts.

I haven't purchased the program yet, and I'm wondering if it has helped at all with controlling your thoughts?

I think this is quite common and can be overcome along with your anxiety. There are a couple of really good chapters on suicide in the CBT book by Sam Obitz. I would encourage you to read those chapters and I think they will be of comfort and hope to you. I recommended this book on here a longtime ago for anxiety, panic and depression in general and here is the link to that post/recommendation if you want to read about mine and other peoples experience with it

You can get out of your head and back to living your life free of major anxiety and suicidal thoughts!

Sometimes anxiety causes us to become obsessed with the things that we fear the most. When you become obsessed, you tend to notice that thing more. In this case, dont worry about it because it's just your sensitive mind scaring you. You wont do those things that you fear.

But, if you're taking antidepressants and you're still fairly young, the antidepressants could cause suicidal thoughts. So please talk to your doctor if you fit into this catagory and you're having suicidal thoughts.

Take care. DeeDee.

Good points and advise Deedee. I forgot about the effect of AD's on youths.
