Jamie

thanks for sharing that info. I didn't know that. I thought I had read just about everything pertaining to body symptoms. This was very helpful.
Thank You

Jill~

I went through the same thing on New Year's day. Everyone thought I was having a heart attack or stroke, even those who admitted me to the emergency room. I had numbness in my left arm and difficulty breathing.
After a visit to my family doctor, to my relief, it turned out that I just hurt my back while playing golf in Florida. Apparently hurting my neck caused something to hit a nerve that went down all the way to my knee. It affected my arm severely. I lost strength in it. Now after acupuncture and chiropractic treatment, I have feeling back in my arm and all is fine.
Is it possible you have back or neck problems? If something is pressing on a nerve you could probably have all these symptoms.

Hi all, I am new here, but I recognize myself in Blakes post so I thought I'd chime in.

Trust your doctors. If you had some serious illness that is so bad it would cause your symptoms, it is highly likely they would find it easily. Pay attention to your symptoms and write down what you were doing and thinking when they come on. You may see a pattern. If you do, you can determine how much anxiety figures into it.

My wife does not suffer from any sort of anxiety disorder (in fact, she thinks I am very odd because I do, but all that is in another post somewhere). When she was in her twenties, she started suffering from attacks where the entire left side of her body would go completely numb, her left leg would buckle, and her left arm would curl up to her chest involuntarily. Believe it or not, it turned out to be stress. The doctor at the hospital had her sit on the edge of the bed and intentionally hyperventilate. Lo and behold, this triggered a full blown attack. I never saw anything like it. Once she knew this, the attacks gradually diminished, and she hasn't had another in almost 30 years.

I am not saying to ignore such symptoms, only saying that once you know there is nothing major wrong, talk yourself out of worrying and direct your energy toward something positive.

Thanks everyone for your replies! Much appreciated :-)

Just as an update, I went to see a Neurologist earlier in the week and explained all of my symptoms plus had my testing sent to him for review. He didn't seem concerned about the tingling sensation that comes and goes (in my legs and hands) nor was he concerned about the muscle spasm (on the side of my head) as well as the headaches at this point.

He feels the headaches have been triggered from stress/anxiety/my current job pressure and analgesic withdrawal (from taking a lot of Advil and Tylenol over the past few years).

He wants me to try to deal with my headaches as much as possible without taking the pain meds and to only take as a last resort. Also, he prescribed 10mgs of Amitriptyline to take at bedtime. Apparently this medication has been able to help some people with their migraine headaches. I'm going to try the medication for 60-90 days and see how it goes. I'm really not comfortable about taking medication in the first place. Neurologist didn't feel it was necessary for an MRI at this point.

Also, I visited my dentist earlier in the week and got fitted for an N.T.I. mouthpiece (Nociceptive Trigeminal Inhibition Tension Suppression System). It only took about 20 minutes to get fitted for this piece and cost me $200.00
My dentist claims that people who suffer from tension headaches and migraines often get some relief from the N.T.I. I'm pretty sure that I have been grinding/clenching my teeth for the simple fact that every single time I wake up in the middle of the night I am biting on the N.T.I.

Anyway, we'll see how it goes over the next couple weeks... still feel lousy :-(

Thanks again.
JOHN
