Charlie Brown,
You sound like your dealing with this disappointment very well! I know how hard it is to keep looking up when things get ruff but I do believe that is exactly the best thing to do.

I'm glad your not mad at God! He didn't make your job go away, maybe he is pushing you towards where you need to be? I've seen and been told many story's where the directions we go just keep getting shut down. Then one day big things just start clicking and before you know it your in a place you are really happy with. And it all makes perfect sense where before made no sense at all. Keep your sensors open! Keep working on your business, maybe that will be the way?
P.S. There you go, YEY you did not get hit by the car!!! LOL...

We are here for ya to work through it! :)

Thanks so much, THH :).

My resume is redone. I just have to rewrite the cover letter to reflect the downsize. I will start sending them out in a day or two. I am still fighting a flu bug. Sometimes with a persistent bug I have almost gone into bronchitis, so I am going to see how I am tomorrow and may/may not go to my MD.

It is absolutely freezing here in NYC. I just returned from getting the agreement notarized and between the snowy/icy spots, whipping wind, and 27 degrees I felt like I was in the wintry tundra.

It's nice being able to recover @ home from a flu when it is bitter cold and you don't have to go out to work. ;)

It is exactly two weeks ago to the day I was unexpectedly part of a company downsize. I have thankfully recovered emotionally, though I briefly feel half a thimble-full bad when clearing out papers from the job. (Papers like account projects I worked on at home, or health insurance documents.)

I remember the first couple of days after that Tuesday, when I worked on my own business I didn't have the desire or drive to do it. I attribute this to what a great set-up I had at the job. My goal was to make money on the job for advertising costs for my business. But I never had a job/manager/activities like I had with this gig.

I started changing and getting the entrepreneurial as I did more and more stuff for my own project. Plus I started feeling down when I sent out the resumes. I was feeling, "How long will the next job last?" Plus there weren't many jobs that interested me.

I don't know if my business will take off now. I have been redesigning the site and plan to have the new design online by the end of the month (before the severance ends and the unemployment begins.) I will still be sending out resumes.

It will be intersting my posts on this thread in the coming months.

Charlie Brown,
I really like the idea your working on your own thing. ;) For some reason you have thought it up, keep going back to it, who knows??? :?
People all thought me & my husband were crazy in 85 getting married and quitting our "good" jobs to start our business. He was in the lumber business, GONE now, and I was in the floral business, DYING. Who knows maybe we are! BUT we have had a good life and even though these times are different I still think I would do it again! Good Luck!!! ;)
