I have gone to the doctor for several different things over the last few years, pregnancy and my wondering if something is wrong with my heart and I have never been told that I have high blood pressure. I work in the insurance business so I work with a lot of nurses and doctors and we were talking about a normal bp and I said I believe it is around 120/80 since my last reading was 122/86 and the nurses response was you have high blood pressure. I have never been told that I have high blood pressure. I found it very shocking and of course anxiety producing thoughts startedto go through my mind. Anyone else have this????

First thats not high blood pressure....for goodness sake whoever told you that was an idiot.

Blood pressure can and does fluctuate in everyperson every moment of the day...granted that most do not go terribly high or terribly low but they do not read out at a constant 120/80. Pain, stress, anxiety, sickness, along with others can cause bp to elevate.

My bp goes up when I get upset, or nervous or have bad pain or am at the doctors office. Its always high when I go to the doctor but it comes down as well which classifies it as situational bp. There are lots of ways to lower bp naturally...Calcium and magnesium are minerals that work well....talk to your doctor about taking supplements. There is a product called Resperate that is fabulous its a 15 minute theraputic breathing machine (looks like a portable cd player) and it helps to relax the body and slow the breathing and therefore keep bp lower. Check it out online.

Excersise and drinking lots of water is also a great way to keep blood pressures stable.

So please dont fret about your bp...the more you do the more it will be a problem. You can control this naturally if you are committed to doing it.

Work your program the more you obsess about your health the more scared you will become and you will feel worse and you will have a harder time believing you are ok.

Hope this helps you.
BP is a huge worry of mine so I can totally relate to you....we will be ok.

Thank you so much. This website is an absolute godsend because of the people (like yourself) listening to those need.

I figured I was ok - however, the anxiety wheel started to spin and then until I get confirmation I don't relax or let it go. I will have a much better day today. Thank you so much.

I can so relate to your High Blood Pressure fears. My doctor has finally reconciled himself to my "white coat" syndrom. One of my goals is to be able to calm myself for dr. and dentist's visits. I do have elevated blood pressure, but these visits will send it sky rocketing. As soon as I get home, it is back to normal. I do find myself obsessing about it and taking my blood pressure often, only feeds that obsession. A new goal is to take it only twice a day. I am loving this program. It seems to give us all the tools we need.

The bp thing is a "new worry" of mine so I am trying to nip it in the bud before it becomes an obsession. I have never been told that I have had a high reading. My readings are always in the 120/80 range. When I think my bp is going to be high because of stress it never is. The nurse or dr. always say its good. And believe me with my worry of having a heart attack I have had them look at my readings to make me feel better. So it was just very strange that someone thought I should worry about areading of 122/86. When I had that reading I know I was anxious so it all makes sense but being the anxious person that I am - I had to confirm I was ok and I am not on my way to a heart attack........
