Does any other woman feel this way? (warning: PMS and period talk!)
I agree with everyones posts here. I feel that my hormonal fluctuations are what lead to alot of my anxious feelings about my health and such.
There is also a great website power-surge.com. It relates to all of us 30 and up who are experiencing PMS, perimenopaue and menopause. After you read some of the posts on there, you will feel better. Lots of anxiety, off-balance feelings, etc.
I was switched to a monophasic b/c pill, because the 3rd week on the triphasic I was a weepy, nervous mess for the whole week. Seems to be working so far. I feel alot less anxious. We all have to hang in there and realize that these feelings cannot control us. I know its difficult, but we have to really nurture ourselves around this time.

I can totally relate to this. I used to suffer BIG time with increased anxiety and horrific mood swings at that time of the month. As if dealing with the anxiety isn't enough of a treat the rest of the month.
I couldn't sleep, all I wanted was junk food, and I would cry so much my eyes swelled to the point it looked like I'd been in a fight.
But, I've found that if I increase my iron levels, and keep them there, the PMS symptoms all but vanish, along with any cramping you may have. Back, thighs, etc. And if you happen to be a heavy monthly sufferer, that will ease to a light cycle as well after a few months.
I use one tablespoon of pure blackstrap molasses in a glass of milk. I do this at least once a day, sometimes 2. It tastes like a carmel latte to me.
Not suffering from the physical symptoms of PMS seems to keep my anxiety levels at a level I'm used to dealing with on daily basis. No huge peak in anxiety like I used to have.

I hear you ladies!! Same thing here... 5 days before to the date I feel like I can't go on with anything. My anxiety levels are sky high.. I feel hungry all the time. A couple of months ago I read posts concerning this I was so happy because I thought I was going insane! Now that I know I’m not the only one I try to let it float like Maggie said but it’s soooo hard. I know it’s the PMS but still It’s like having the anxiety 24hrs a day that I can’t control. I know I’m the one control it but seems it’s just too hard that time of month. Last night I just couldn’t deal anymore I was in the shower I sat down and cried for like half an hour (I never cry) but everything was so overwhelming I was freaking out. I feel the house work is such a burden and trying to deal with little things that seem so huge. I was a mess!! But I finally went to bed and this morning isn’t as bad, which is a good thing. I guess we need to keep going strong and get thru that ruff spot.
Good Morning,
PMS, Perimenopause now for me Menopause. What we women go through. Our emotions are up and down - are cravings are uncontrollable - sleep patterns just suck!!!!! Today I feel good-but yesterday and the day before life was just - blahhh! My daughter suffers from PMS and help us all-I try to be understanding because I've gone through it myself and she feels the pain - I've given her multisymptom Midol but there are natural remedies out there that work Hylands makes a great PMS remedy just to take the edge off. Try it Dr. Bach also has drops that help with many many symptoms. Good Luck-and God Bless.

Sometimes I think I should be the poster child for PMS
7 to 10 days before I start the symptoms start coming, I get very very hungry, I could probably eat 3 big macs if I let myself
Then I get very sleepy especially after eating, I notice I sleep more and have more nightmares around this time for some reason. I get very irritable also, sometimes downright angry, no patience and I get depressed and anxious also, once I start those feeling usually abate by the second or third day then I deal with cramps, heavy bleeding and nausea, then it stops! Sometimes I feel because of this I only have like maybe 10 good day a month. I believe its hormonal, estrogen and progestrone, I produce it alot in my body, I also notice when I gain weight its worse.
I try all the remedies, walking, no salt, exercise etc.... it helps a little. I think whats helped me is knowing its going to go away and I'll feel normal again, I dont want to say "I learned to live with it" Perhaps just accepting it more, I have had every feeling you have had and I know its not pleasant I just keep telling myself its going to end.

hey everyone! i can totally relate to this. my PMS was so horrible and led to uncontrollable anxiety for two weeks-the week before and during my period. i finally couldn't take it any more, and talked to my gyno and she put me on birth control pills continuously. they have a new pill called seasonique that you take for three months straight and then take the placebo week and get your period only four times a year. i do that with a different type of pill that has a different level of horomones. it helps SO MUCH to only have to deal with a period four times a year. plus, once you've been on it for a while, there's virtually no PMS at all, plus no anticipatory anxiety of not knowing when it's coming because you plan it. i really suggest this to everyone i know who has period issues.
good luck!
good luck!
Hello, I'm 50 years old and my anxiety and depression started about 3-4 months ago. My sleep deprivation was so bad the dr. put me on xanax which I take just at night to sleep. I went to see my gyno. on Friday and he seems to think that it's my hormones from perimenopause. We did some blood work and I will be having a uteran biopsy on Friday. He wants me to go on low dose birth control pills to try and regulate my hormones. He says it should help with most of my symptoms. Anyone have any suggestions ??????

I've been thinking about myself. My cycles have changed wver since I turned 40 almost 2 years ago. I keep talking to my dr about whether or not I'm premenapausal. The only thing she's said is when I start to have my cycles further and further apart, then I'm getting close. I have my regularly every 4 weeks, except for this last time which was 2 weeks. My symptoms aren't always bad but since I turned 40 when they are bad, they knock me on my but. I can't think or sometimes walk a straight line. The one good thing is my flow only lasts 2 to 2 1/2 days every month. It's all the prestuff that gets me. My mood swings are so severe at times before, during and after now. I'm sure the people around me can't stand being around me for 3 out of the 4 weeks each month. That's pretty sad. Most times, I can't even stand being around me.
When I go in for my annual in March, I'm going to make an issue of this. I've never been pregnant or had any children so I don't know if this has anything to do with my symptoms either.
What I can say is I'm really not liking getting older thing...

Hello,
2 things-one about PMS the other about post-menopause. I am past PMSing myself however I know a number of women who have used progesterone supplement ie prolief from Arbonne and there are other kinds in health food stores. Do one pump on your skin each day the week before your period. For some woman this has worked miracles.
I am suffering from post-meno anxiety. I have tried bioidentical hormones and the estrogen triggered a huge adrenaline response that took a few months to wind down. Later I tried just progesterone alone and I think this has triggered more adrenaline and cortisol and more anxiety. It's like the chicken and egg question. Is the anxiety from the biochemical affect of the hormones or is my anxiety producing the biochemistry? I think the hormones each time have triggered a cascade of terrible cortisol. Is anyone having these hormones monitored with blood testing? Cortisol levels are very dependent on time of day.
Thanks
