Not only can I not control my racing thoughts, I feel like I have no control over my life right now, down to my emails and cell phone especially. I hate to hear it ring and I don't always want to talk to the person at the other end but feel guilty if I don't. I feel like I have no control over stupid parts of my life like that.

Has anyone had a similar experience? How did you talk yourself around it?

The cell phone and the e-mails are there as tools for YOU. You are not at their beck and call. Use them if you want, ignore them if you want. More and more technology in our lives is not a requirement and is not necessarily good.

Take care of you and your emotions. You "feel" like you have no control, so just try using some. Say NO. It gets easier and easier.

Good luck with it. Life is hectic at this time of year. It's OK to do what you can handle and skip the rest. God's blessings to you.

Good answer newrunner.

I went through a period of not wanted to answer the phone or look at emails. I just didn't want to deal with anyone else. As I got better I didn't mind so much and now I am ok with emails and the phone.
Though I have to say, I answer them in my time..

thank you for asking this question! because even though, I "know" in my head not answering the phone or emails is ok...I still wind up feeling guilty and then I find myself overcompensating for that guilt. Can anyone say...ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!?

I think that newrunner's answer is great, you're letting these things (email and cell phone) control your life. When you overcompensate for not answering them, you're still letting them run your life. Why not try going on a vacation that will isolate you from these things, like a camping trip?
