Hello. I recently went to the ER and they ran some blood work. Everything came back fine except my D-dimer was a little elevated. They did a CT scan and it came back fine.

So today when I went to my family dr. she was a little surprized about the level but didn't do anything about it and the ER doctor just said some women have a slightly elevated level.

No one seems concerned about it but me because of course, I researched the possible causes of it on the internet and it's all bad.

Has anyone else ever had this and not had a blood clot or something else bad? I'm scared but trying not to be.

You've probably heard this before but stop googling! I put an end to it a loooooong time ago and I know I have saved myself from so much worry and panic. Trust your doctors, if they aren't concerned, than there most likely is nothing to be concerned about.

P&P,

I know you are right about the googling. I just don't trust doctors. So, I over research myself and then I get myself worked up. Not good! Thanks for reminding me googling is not a good thing! S

Wow, I had to learn my lesson about googling too. If it not from a creditable source. I would leave googling alone. It will just depress you. If you don't feel confortable with your dr.s opinion you can always go get a second opinion.

Well, I got my answers today and it is amazing how far off target fear can take us. Googling symptoms is FOR SURE not a good thing to do. I just had sciatic nerve pain in my leg and the blood test result was nothing. BUT my family doctor was not able to tell me this so I am planning on getting one closer to my home and hopefully, a regular doctor. I put myself through so much yesterday and today for NOTHING! I know better but I just have to put into practice what I know. Thanks everyone!

I agree with getting a second opinion as well. As much as you have to trust your doctors, it's good to stay on top of health issues and if you're dissatisfied to find a new doctor.

Live and learn, I'm glad everything turned out okay. Anxiety really plays with our minds at times. I've been in your shoes MANY times and you would think by now, I would understand that my thoughts are usually always wrong!

Hey..... I'm doing the google thing too!!!! I;'m a guy and this whole anxiety stress thing has created some crazy stomach issues. along with fatigue. I talked to my Dr. and he wasnt alarmed, but to appease me and my crazy mind he agreed to do some tests.....and now I'm all jacked up worrying. Ive had the colonoscopy, and the endoscopy..all is well....but I get on that damn google thing and I go nuts. I'm just like you....... maybe I need to get rid of this damn computer. We're over connected.

P&P and worryguy, Computers can be a blessing and a curse! I am really trying to stay away from googling symtpoms. Our minds are very powerful BUT we have the ability to control which way they go. Just gotta keep telling ourselves that! ;)

Some people struggle with going to the doctor, I seem to go the other direction and over doctor, like you mentioned worryguy. I know I've had more tests done in the past two years than most people have in their whole lives! Health anxiety is not fun, but we can overcome that too. Take care. Simple

I totally know what you mean, I google a lot too, especially going on Webmd which is the worst!

I'm trying to stop doing it, but a lot of times I keep going to it!
