One More Step

Oh I'm not going over the hill. I plan to go around! I'm afraid of heights you know. Plus there might be a bridge or something I might have to cross at the top. I'm all into avoidance, LOL!
Work is going going about the same. I'm generally maxing out the time I'm allowed to work from home but having a lot of trouble getting to the office regularly. The last two weeks have been particularly difficult.
I'm glad to hear you went back for the knee pads. I've taken my share of spills on roller blades. I think the worst was in Seaside, Oregon, when I was first learning to use them. I was on the boardwalk and ended up going through a flock of seagulls that were milling around. The all took off when I got close and I ended up taking a nice spill. It all healed so it's all good, right? But don't worry, you'll get comfortable on them pretty quick and then falling isn't much of an issue. I bet pretty soon you'll be one of those speed roller bladers that zooms by all crouched over at 25 MPH (40 KPH for you Canadians)!
Music and Jill -
I carry as little as possible with me when I ride my bicycle. I'm all about the speed! So an extra pair of shoes is out. I don't want the extra bulk or weight.
Jill -
I have special pedals on my bike that are designed to lock into the cleats on my bike shoes so other shoes are not an option. What I really need to carry with me is an extra tube for my tire, a CO2 pump, and my cleat covers.
Thanks for the kudos on my getting through it. I had to walk to one of the two locations I mentioned because where I got my flat the trail runs between a major freeway and a river. I guess when you have no choices, you just have to make it work, right? Right! Then again, I could have swam across the river holding my bike over my head so as not to get it wet...

Jamie,
awesome job on realizing there was no need to panic. You were always alone on the trail, but when you're tire went you just weren't as fast! Great job on being realistic in this situation... sounds like a nice refresher in terms of learning to keep yourself calm. Always look at these events as learning experiences.
I have been very busy lately but hope to share more about my own personal growth shortly. I've made major strides lately.

THH ! I bought that cd last month ! I love the Lovin' Spoonful. That was one of the ones that my brother and sister used to play when I was a wee lad when the song first came out ! Awesome choice ! Bravo !!!!!!!
...and as of today, the U.S. dollar and the Canadian dollar (the loonie) is even. 1 Canadian loonie will buy me 1 U.S. dollar. I still like to shop in the States though....better selection of stuff. Ebay rocks too.
Wow Jamie ...you really are into biking ! Good for the environment too. What are cleats ? Are they cleats like in golf shoes ?
OK THH...this is one that gets the memories flooding back. When this plays on the radio, it takes forever to get out of my head....but that's ok because it's still one of my favourites ! ...and it fits in well with the anxiety and panic thing.

THH You ROCK !!! Motown is the BEST You ROCK ROCK ROCK !!!!!!!!
I'm sorry, but there's no way to top that !
So, I'll do this instead. This one was off the first album I bought with my own money (1979). I still have that album to this day. I think that's why this album is one of my favourites.
P.S - I think that once SeaRunner hears these, and knows the words to these, he'll realize that "the hill" is closer than he thinks ! LOL

Love the music. And ManOfMusic, just because I know the words doesn't mean I was around when they were written, LOL!
I knew the band Supertramp existed but I honestly could never have told you any song they had performed. I recognized the tune though. After listening to it, I realized that their style and rhythm reminded me a bit of ABBA (or vice versa). Listen to this for comparison:

On another note, this particular song always reminds me of The Mamas and the Papas. Not so much the music, but he phrase "if you know what I mean". The Mamas and Papas seems to like using that one a lot, as if we didn't "know what they meant", LOL! Here's a nice example:

Lastly, I love watching all sorts of music videos on YouTube. I came across this a capella group from UC Berkley. They do a nice cover of My Girl. Not only are they talented, but funny too. When I'm down, stuff like this always cheers me up:

Biking cleats are special clips that attach to the bottom of biking shoes. They are sold with and for specific matching pedals. The cleats lock into the pedals so that your feet don't slip off and also so you can use your up-stroke (lifting your legs) to power you forward as well as your down-stroke. They're nothing like cleats on football, soccer, or golf shoes.
Biking shoes have threaded holes in the bottom of them specifically to screw the cleats to. The shoes are much stiffer than normal shoes so that no power is wasted by the shoe bending while peddling. It's a little bit scary using them at first because to get your foot off the pedal, you have to rotate you're heel out away from the bike frame, which pops out the cleat. If you're not used to it or forget when you come to a stop, you take a not so graceful fall to the side with your feet still stuck in the pedals! But after using them, I'd never go back to riding with running shoes and non cleat pedals.
