Going to Take My Life Back
I know exactly how you feel. My name is Tony Lykins and I am 32 years old. I live in Pittsburgh,Pa. I have that kind of an attack often. I just had one a few minutes ago and am still trying to get over it. It does seem to get worse the older you get. I have had this since I was 24 and each year it seems to get worse. Mine is a little tricky though. I went through spurts there for awhile. I would go without a major attack like yours for weeks and even sometimes months, but then again there would be times that it would pound me almost daily all week long.
I believe that if you take these attacks in strides, meaning when you have them, let it happen and then try and forget about it. If not it will haunt and worry you until the next one. If you try and forget about it you are usually good until the next time it happens. This is what I try to do. I try not to let it destroy me in the middle of the having and not having the attacks. I know its harder said then done. It still kicks my butt. One of the best things I have found out about this is having a buddy to understand, that you can call and talk to when these attacks happen to get your mind off of it.
If you would like to talk, you can catch me here time to time or email me at tonydlykins@yahoo.com

I am 30 and have been dealing anxiety and depression my whole life, although until recently I didn't even realize it. I thought I had just slight depression. I wish I would have known sooner that I could do something about it!
But now that I know, I will!!
Penny - I'm glad to hear you were able to help in your attack and got it to pass quickly! I seem to have general anxiety, didn't even realize I was having panic attacks before, I'm not one to go to the Dr. either so I've always just lived w/it. I am starting to be able to recognize when/what it is and work through it also!! It's so great to know I will one day be able to control it. I might not be able to fully stop them, but I will have the control that I NEVER had before.
Good luck to all!! Happy recovering!!!
