I'm really shy, and have social anxiety disorder. I did something today that was totally outgoing. I sang in front of 65+ ppl in a lunch hour meal/entertainment thing. It was nerve-shattering, but I made myself do it because I know that's the only way I'll ever be able to overcome not doing stuff. I may not ever shake the severe anxiety, but i'm still proud of myself for doing it. Everyone said I sounded great. It was all I could do to open my eyes or take them off of the floor lol. But it's a little victory!
That is super!! You should be so proud of yourself. That is a HUGE victory, not a little one. Way to go and keep up the good work. I would say that you just gave your anxiety a big kick in the rear end and if you can do something like this, then you can definitely shake the severe anxiety. Remember, this is REAL, what you did, this is PROOF that you can do it and overcome your anxiety.
Your singing is a gift that you can share with others, so be grateful for it and talk up your accomplishment to yourself-- Lucinda says to give ourselves praise for every little thing we do, and this was a big thing, so celebrate. Yippee for you!!
