Exercise is exercise. It really doesn't matter much whether you get it in your garden or out on the running trail. All that matters is that you're getting your heart rate up, working out your muscles, and burning calories. Keep on yourself about your goal to get out and walk. Remember, you don't have to do the full walk; any amount of exercise is a good thing.

I haven't posted goals in a while, so I thought I'd list some things out for tomorrow:

1) Exercise. I'd like to take a long run or bike ride. If I get nervous, I'll just keep the route close to home, even if I just have to go in circles.

2) Run and ride my motorcycle. Again, I don't have to go far, just get some time on it.

I think that will keep my anxiety busy for a day! I'll report back with my experience.

You could also increase digestion by eatting smaller meals several times a day. I find 4-6 meals a day helps me out alot and i'm pretty regular and got a moderate ammount of energy.

I've been eating small meals for many years now. I find if I wait too long to eat, which is the case when I just eat three large meals, then my blood sugar drops too much and I tend to feel dizzy and shaky. My real problem with this is that I can't tell these symptoms apart from those I get with anxiety so it tends to make me nervous, sometime even causing panic. Even though I already follow it, it's still good advice and I'm glad you posted it.

I was able to meet both my goals today. I went for a run after the weather cleared up. I ran about 2.5 miles and followed it up with another mile walking to cool down and keep exercising a bit longer. I'm out of shape right now so I was tired, but it still felt good. The sunshine helped too!

I also got my motorcycle out. I was nervous since I hadn't ridden it in a while. I didn't have a particular route in mind so I just rode around the area. I had to turn around a few times when I starting getting too nervous, but I still kept riding around in other areas. It was good to get out and good for my bike too.

Tomorrow's goals are to get into the office and pay for my parking permit. If I can stay for a while to work, that would be great too. Otherwise, I'll put in some hours from home.

I met my goals for today. Yay me!

I drove to the office, granted I had a safe person with me. I ran upstairs, got my parking permit invoice, said hi to my manager, and then bolted. After paying for the permit, I headed home feeling pretty good about things. I would have liked to have been calmer but the important thing is that I went in anyway.

I also got some time in from home. My goal for the week is to get 10 to 20 hours (more likely towards the lower end) in some combination of work from home and work at the office. Right now, knowing that I can put in up to half time from home is pretty comforting although I'm finding that I still am getting a little anxious just logging in. I suppose I've created an anxious association with work so I guess this isn't so surprising. It will just take more exposure and I'm sure I'll get over it.

Searunner - That's good that you can do half of your work from home, but make sure to take the steps needed to go to your place of employment full time again. As for the motorcycle, run, and parking permit...all excellent moves. If you had to go with a safe person for now, that's fine. As time goes on, you'll be able to do this alone.

As for my riverwalk, I'm getting better exercise outside around the yard. It's so humid here that the fat's melting off ! LOL

Another thing I need to practice is getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night. I need some sort of ritual that I can do to calm myself down before I turn in for the night. I don't drink water past 8:00pm, and I don't eat past 7:00pm (anymore LOL). As for the salt, I'm working on it, but it's getting easier.

I've been in the same spot searunner. I would be very lethargic and it would be difficult to even get up and walk around, it caused me alot of anxiety for years! I'm not sure what aspect of my lifestyle now makes it not so much but I don't get that way too often anymore. If it helps, I walk to the gym, I workout with weights and machines, I do ab work (although i just got into doing abs on a regular basis and the digestive issue got better before now), I have been doing Yoga once a week since like November and there is alot of ab work in there and I do hip hop but i just started up in may and the condition got better before that. Perhaps its the Yoga.

You're absolutely right. I don't want to get too comfortable at home or I'll have no reason to leave. Fortunately, there's lots of motivation for me to get into the office from all of my support network as well as my managers and coworkers.

On another note, and I don't want to send the wrong message, but I worry about you eliminating all salt from your diet and then working or exercising outside in the heat. When we sweat, we naturally lose salts from our bodies along with water, which need to be replenished. This includes both sodium and potassium. So be sure you're not overdoing things, especially in the heat.

There are so many things going on with our minds and bodies it's often too hard to tell what is change is making what difference, good or bad. I'm glad your energy has increased regardless of how it happened. I suppose if we try to improve as many areas of our lives as we can, then the results are bound to be positive.

I was able to meet my work goals this week. I had a lot of anxiety so my schedule was erratic, but in the end I got all the hours my manager requested in and I'm pretty proud of that. It gives me hope that I'm coming out of this downturn and heading back up again.

I haven't been exercising much this week since the weather has gotten so hot. I did take about a 20 mile bike ride on Wednesday, but yesterday and today were just too hot to go outside. But it's given my body a bit of time to "heal" from my ride. My behind was pretty sore!

I'd like to get in some running and cycling this weekend. The temperature is supposed to drop to more tolerable levels so I won't have that as an excuse.

Hope everyone is well,
Jamie
