waking up with anxiety
I work nights, so my sleep schedule is totally messed up anyway a lot of the time. I have been experiencing anxiety, nausea, and sometimes a dizzy head almost immediately when I wake up....no threat present. I have pinpointed that some of this is due to a wandering mind....worry about my work, my kids (I have joint custody & am still adapting to the time that they aren't at home). Any suggestions on how to start my day without immediate anxiety?

I'm glad to read this. I have a normal work schedule, but mornings are the worst for me. I wake up anxious. Actually, I think anxiety wakes me up! I think that's such a strange thing because I don't have anything stressing me out first thing in the morning.
I've started listening to the relaxation CD in the morning before I get out of bed and I really think that's helping.
Good luck and glad to hear that there are people like me out there!

I wake up in the middle of the night freaking out about work and money, (i'm self employed), funny thing is I am fine when i get up and get my day going 90% of the time, I can deal with this but waking up with cold sweats and worying myself sick has become a real problem, enough to make me buy this program. Hope it works, i'm on week 3

I think our bodies get so attuned to be IN THE STRESS mode all the time that it just stays that way until we work on the problem that is causing it. Eating before bed, watching stressful tv,(news, violence, etc) will trigger thought processes which will interfere with relaxing at that time. eliminating alcohol too before bed can interfere with restful sleep.
We all arent lucky enough to have an OASIS of a bedroom filled with candles, fluffy cloudlike pillows, soft breezes and the sounds of the surf calming sending us off to snoozeland...We have to make that time special. A great preparation for a sound sleep should start at night and then it will result in a great rested feeling in the morning. Thoughts like anxiety may rush in as your eyes pop open but you will be able to control it better as you work on it. creamcheesepuff

Mornings are the WORST for me! I wake up paralyzed with fear and feel so very hopeless. For the past day, since getting the CDs, I find that the relaxation exercise is better than any drug in the world. It's just a major effort to put the CD in and listen to it. Sometimes it takes 2 hours for me to work up the motivation, outside of my anxiety paralysis, to listen to it.

I wake up with anxiety on a daily basis and yeah the relaxation cd has been the best remedy for that. Also i listen to it before going to sleep and that usualy helps with the quality of sleep.
