When my grandfather was 84 years old he wrote this poem.

In all this world go where you will,
You will never find another,
Who will stick to you through thick and thin,
And love you like a mother.

With wife, or husband, uncle, or aunt,
You may with goodness smother,
But you will never taste any cooking,
Half as good as that prepared by mother.

And when your body is racked with pain,
Til you are almost in despair,
There is nothing that will lift you up,
Or give you courage.
Like that of Mother's prayer.

She may be gone to her heavenly home,
And left you down with others,
But you will never find any hands,
As soft and warm,
As that of the hands of mother.

My grandfather lived to be 92 years. He was born in 1888.He had no formal education and only learned to read by reading the bible.Every Mother's Day I get this poem out and read it. A lady in our town wrote an article in our town newspaper about 40 years ago about my grandfather along with a copy of his poem.I found the article and poem taped to my grandmother's bible.I hope everyone has a great Mother's Day!!!!
