I have been on antidepressants in the past, However I did not like their side effects. I proceeded to help myself with other methods which are most helpful to me. However, As Jillzmind mentioned You know what you need and that is a positive thing to know you NEED the medicine. You want to help yourself the best you can and if you feel other ways are futile then all the power to you. I would incorporate other methods such as the tapes and methods you yourself find most helpful. I know the meds take awhile to kick in, its frustrating when you just want the feelings to stop. I hope the Trileptal helps. Sometimes you have to find the RIGHT medication that works for just you. so hang in there, never give up. creamcheese

Curtis, I just wanted to encourage you. Are you using a journal? Do you know the main sensitive area that triggers it for you or the life circumstance? (not asking you to divulge it here) If so, write it down, or when it happen do the same, get it out of your head. If you pray, ask God to help you forgive or guide you to the right solution. Trust He will. Do you exercise regularly? This helps boost seratonin levels and the other is diet, google "the fungal link" or watch the show Know the Cause on Angel or the web. Oh yeah, breathing slow deep breaths and slow release in quiet anytime and before you go to sleep is such a help for me and some of my friends. Blessings!

I've had a really stressful last year, starting with a heart attack and a second "cardiac event" and my mom's deteriorating health and finally her passing away in March - I'm on three different meds, one of which is Ativan, which I've now been on for almost a year. I so want to be able to kick the meds, but my stress levels seem to just never go down.....I guess I would just love to hear from anyone who has successfully been able to go off of benzos, so that is not one more thing I add to the negative thoughts of things to dread, that I have this hellacious row to hoe in front of me when I try to do that.
