my workplace doesn't observe good friday. so tomorrow is another day (miss scarlett) LOL
then i'm off 9 days in a row because of spring break. they're not paid - factored into my yearly salary. i don't care - it's 9 days off yayyyyyyyy
work was fine today. i think what give me the will to go on at work is the bizarre lunch group we've amassed. collectively, we are rude, ill mannered, hysterically funny and have no pride. it's a wonderful break in the day LOL
i got home from work and took keeper for a walk on the nature trail. came back home and took pony for HIS walk on the nature trail. i'd called mama and told her to be waiting and she was - sitting on the front porch ready for HER walk. my goal is to get more stamina and fit as a fiddle. throw in that walking is making me happier and more energized and how cool is that?
one more day - the office anthem LOL
i can't wait to get started on my projects!
i'm going to post something from "the daily om" - which i subscribe to - i mentioned it a few days ago. this one is right on the money so i hope you enjoy it as much as i do!
party on, rock on!!!!!!!!!

Promoting the Positive
Negative Pull
If you find your thoughts and conversations stuck in a negative pattern, enlist others to break the habit together.
Sometimes we start out with the best intentions to think and speak only positive thoughts, but the people around us throw us off course. Not everyone fully understands the power our thoughts and words have, or even if they do, they may be stuck in old patterns of negativity. Much of our habitual communication takes the form of complaining and criticizing, and it can be hard to find a way into certain conversations without lapsing into those old habits. However, we always have the option not to participate in negativity or to find a way to influence the situation in a positive direction. In the right company, you may even be able to directly acknowledge the fact that things have taken a negative turn, thus freeing yourself and others from the negative pull.
Not everyone will respond to your cues, and there’s no need to become overly attached to the idea of changing other people, because people have to choose for themselves how they will be in the world. Many people choose negativity because it is familiar to them and feels safe. It is important to give people the space to find their own way, but you can always set an example, subtly representing the power of being positive. At times you may interject an affirmative statement into the conversation, and at others you may simply change the subject. You may also simply withdraw your energy and presence, which also makes a subtle statement. If you feel comfortable enough with somebody that is always negative, perhaps you can have an honest conversation with them; after all, awareness is the first step to change.
A powerful way to free yourself from the negative pull is to enlist allies who are similarly minded. You and a friend, coworker, or family member may agree to work together to continually shift the energy in a situation in a positive direction. The power of two people working to promote the positive is exponentially greater than one person working on their own. As you and your allies work together to lift the energy around you, you will be amazed to see how quickly the positive pull begins to draw people into its orbit, freeing one mind after another from negativity into light.

I agree. In NJ...We have the Negativity infection...its highly contagious and that post was absolutely correct. I find it very hard talking even to friends of mine without it diving into a swirling doomed negative blackhole. I admit...I am guilty too...it gets to be such a vicious pattern that if someone doesnt say something negative you think something must be wrong...its too positive here for me......strange isnt it? creamcheese

being positive is an attitude that takes time to acquire. it's almost easier to be negative negative negative. in being negative, people miss the best of everything. what purpose does that serve? not a bit to me!
that's why i surround myself with positive friends. of course people share their dramas and traumas - we're normal LOL but at the same time, we give each other so much positive input! we actually both like and love one another. we all know we're good people and we reinforce that in both our selves and one another.
when i was going through so much bad stuff at work with things 1 and 2, i stayed so focused on their negative energy i forgot who i was. i became a nervous, frightened, blah blah blah shell of myself. i forgot there were other people i could turn to for help and positivity - that's sad LOL
i do understand going off on negative tangents - doesn't everybody do that? but recently i was reading something about not reacting and how much better you feel when you don't let yourself rant and rave. i thought about it - really hard - and got it! the last time i truly went off - like a maniac - it took hours to calm down and relax - and that was with the help of a friend - until about 12:30 at night! i was tired beyond all belief after that rant - she probabl was too!!! she's a lunch regular now LOL
so here's to positive thinking, speaking, actions - you name it!!! i'm positive we can do it LOL

Yes, I agree. NJ and NY people are very outgoing, agressive, and NOW in these times more negative. I feel it was because of 911. We were here watching those towers burn and fall. It was very scarey. Apprehension living here is everywhere. Its congested with lots of immigrants who refuse to speak English as their first language. It makes people nervous. You dont know who or what anyone is taking about anymore. I cant stress that anymore for Homeland security purposes also. But...thats the politicians fault it wasnt stressed to have English as the primary language in the US. Its a full time job being positive living here. I am glad I have the tapes. The thought processes and how you view things are essential for returning to a calmer lifestyle. Cant agree with you more. creamcheese

A positive group of friends is the best way to live your life. That's why I like these boards !
I'm turning into an exercise nut now ! LOL I went for the riverwalk yesterday morning and I went again this morning. I was out in the country last night and yes, I had a few beers, but I walked it off today. The trick for me is as soon as I wake up (7:00am), get out of bed, take a shower, get dressed, get the running shoes on and just go. If I think about it too much, I'll put it off. It's amazing how many other nut cases are out on the walking path at 7:00am ! LOL
I agree with you on Sept 11th. I happened to be in the States on Sept 11 2001 and I didn't think that I'd be able to cross back that day. I got talked into going on a bus trip to Shipshewana (sp?) Indiana. We were told when we got off the bus that we probably weren't getting back that night. I saw people pull together and it was amazing. Even more amazing and weird was how fast people pulled apart after that too. It seemed that once the shock wore off, people went back to being themselves and some even worse. Negativity is at an all time high and that is one of the reasons that I prefer not to get myself involved in conversations where it's all negative all the time. My stress level gets way too high and I can't take it.
I also found that once my attitude changed to the positive side, I attracted positive people ! It seems that people are craving positive stuff. I mean you figure that the head newsline of the day will always be something negative. There seems to be no way of getting around that. I find that if I'm in a "blue mood" in the morning, I can go for my walk and by the time I get back, I'm in a real good mood. I'm finding that (as much as I hate to admit it) exercise is what pulls me out of my funk.
Today I'm heading out to the country again to buy a red maple tree for the backyard (it needs some shade back there). AND you can't get any more Canadian then a red maple tree ! LOL (eh !)
Hope everyone is having an awesome day and I wish you all a Happy Easter ! ......STAY AWAY FROM THE CHOCOLATE!!!!!!! LOL

it's saturday - yayyyyyyyy!!!!!
i got up this morning and finished watching a movie i started last night. then i put on shorts and a tank top and cleaned my downstairs veranda. after that, i got into the garage and cleaned that out too!!!!
you can't imagine the pollen here. everything - i mean everything - is yellow LOL my green car is now yellow. i took my tennis shoes off on the front porch and left foot prints in the pollen. since i leave the back door open so the boys can run in and out, there's pollen everywhere in the house. it too will pass LOL the boys love the freedom of coming and going - something maybe we all understand???
a couple of neighborhood cats have been hanging out in the garage. the best part of that is i didn't come across any rats or snakes! but i was very cautious. before you ask, yes i can smell a rat!!! i did find empty rats nests - the smell awful. everything has been blown into the woods now. and again yes - everything was yellow HA
i've been to the store for easter dinner. mama and i will be dining on spiral ham, baked sweet potatoes, and my famous squash casserole - i just remembered i didn't buy ANY cheese - blast it all!!!! ok, we'll have sauted squash - i'm not getting redressed and going back to the store!
it's been an absolutely wonderful day. i'm so happy when i'm outside working. the sunshine was beautiful and the sky so blue.
i've rented movies - something i don't usually do because i have netflix. but mama wants to see "the blind side". AND they had a copy of "sherlock holmes", "men who star at goats", and "the hangover". i figure since i'm home all next week, why not entertain myself with watching movies on a tv instead of my laptop? the trick to getting new releases is to stand where they are putting the returned movies on the counter. yes i'm annoying but suprising effective LOL
good for you and your tree! one can never have too many trees. there's a peacefulness about them. i "heart" trees.
have a wonderful easter!!!

Today went by real fast ! I was kept busy and that's the way (uh huh uh huh) I like it. (sorry about that LOL). I really wish I had the week off like you because the weather here is unbelieveable ! It's 75 and a nice breeze is blowing and it's going to stay like that the rest of the week (so the weatherman says). It's one of those weeks to call in sick ! LOL
Hope you are getting a ton of stuff done around the house........or I hope you are just relaxing with a good movie or book. Before you know it, it will be Monday again (sorry about that again ! LOL) If you're in the pool, don't forget the sunscreen and stay WELL hydrated.
You still have 6 days off !
