Does anyone avoid these? I feel terrible thinking that i might/would avoid Viewings/ Funerals due to my anxiety, but the whole thing is so charged with emotion I don't feel i can handle them.

This is one of my top fears. Something about the corpse or body just bothers me on a very primordial level. If I have to go to one I insist on sitting in the back and I will not let my eyes look at the casket. You know when you have to get up and troop past with everyone? Well, I might appears as if I am looking but I am staring at a spot above, to the left, anywhere but AT the body. I know if I do look, it will stay with me for days. I think this is a normal aversion to death but when you couple it with an anxiety disorder then it just makes it that much worse. You are right, there is a very high emotional current to them, too.

Glad to know i'm not alone with this fear. i feel so guilty about it when i'm focusing on my fear instead of the people that i care about. thanks for the input and the suggestion. Very much appreciated.
