I would like to join this circle I started the program in August and did good for a while but had to start over because of an illness, I'm doing it now and struggling with depression. I guess I figure as long as I have the tapes I can't flunk. Just got to keep going, it is a little harder now though.

I have been having a good week so far. My best friend has moved back from Virgina (Her husband is in the Navy). I have been helping her put things together, like beds, a crib and helping her unpack for the last couple of days. It has really helped my mood. She has a 4 year old and an advanced 7 month old (she is crawling, walking with the furniture, standing alone) and her husband is ship side helping the people of Haiti. Her 4 year old gives me lots of hugs which I find wonderful. She is truly a loving child. I feel that my goal in life is to help people since it helps me feel more alive. I just need to find a job now or go back to school. I'm so grateful for good friends. I am still having trouble sleeping. I don't know whether my pain medication is really working since I am still in pain. I think this may be the cause of the sleeplessness. I wish everyone a good day.

Hello all:
And a good morning!
A very good book to read is HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE by Frank Minirth and Paul Meier, two psychiatrists.
Along with this program of course. I also reccomend David Burn's FEELING GOOD.
You will learn from this program that it is your thoughts that control your feelings.
And you can change your thoughts. One baby step at a time. Don't rush. BABY STEPS!
You can't change anyone but yourself.
I personally like to use guided imagery for relaxation in the beginning. As you change your thoughts and have less stress you will learn to relax a bit better.
Another thing that helped me a lot when I was very depressed was a reminder from others that God could and would help me to help myself if He were sought.
Suz65, so happy you are improving. That is wonderful.
My best to each of you.
MJ

I am starting over but I am glad for the tools I have because I have been delt a couple hard blows and find myself in the pit of depression.. again. I don't understand where my posts go because no one answers anymore...they disappear into space. I have not given up...I will never surrender....this too will pass.
Good luck to all

Well I found out today the job I have been waiting to open up my best friend got. I am still unemployed. This was a big hit to my high I have been on. (natural high). I actually slept thru the night for a couple of nights. I don't know if this is from exhaustion or because I am trying not to nap during the day no matter how tired I get. I have to keep myself moving or I fall asleep. I hope the sleep problem continues to improve.
