Hi, does this spacey feeling ever goes away, it is so strong that I feeling like I am going to lose my mind and go crazy, and start thinking what if I don't know where I am at, or I don't recognize the people I know. I feel like this all day long and it is so hard to believe that it is all caused by anxiety, my husband is very supportive and he keeps telling me to focus on something else rather than thinking they way I feeling, but is so hard to do things or concentrate when I feel so spacey, Am I going crazy or something....I am so scared this might never go away..

It's all part of the anxiety. It hit me while I was driving yesterday. I breathed my way thru it and eventually I was fine. The more you focus on it, the more it will affect you. If you can go for a walk or do something to keep your mind off of it, the better you will be.

I know how you feel Valeria.

I feel the same way about lightheadedness . People including me, keep saying focus on something else, or don't let it bother you. But that is soooo hard to do when it's there when you open your eyes! It's hard to get away from these types of symptoms because they are right in your eyes. Well, your vision.

But the truth is, as hard as it is, that's how you get rid of it. We have to focus on something else, and not allow it to bother us.

It would be better I it was stomach ache or something. When your vision is affected, it's really difficult.

I can relate to you whole heartedly. Spacyness has been affecting me for 15 years now and I've managed to keep it going by saying the same things that you have posted in your thread.

It isn't easy to do but we really need to calm ourselves and accept the spaciness as a symptom of anxiety. It feels like we are going crazy and that we might lose control and possibly do something embarassing or stupid but how many times do we?

I don't agree with people saying to just focus on something else or don't let it bother you. Gee if we could do that then would we really have such a problem with it? The key is really to accept it and that it can't hurt you. If this is too hard then i'd like you to read this book "hope and help for your nerves" by Claire Weekes. It is an old book so you'll have to search on ebay or Amazon in order to get it. It explains things in more detail.

I hope that helps.

Ninja,

I have that book, and I love it. I like to go back to it periodically just for a refresher!

I felt this way tonight in a restaurant, the dim lights did it to me. I just ignored it and forgot about later.

What this program teaches though is to recognize it and tell yourself it will pass "I'm having some anxiety and it will go away in a while" that acceptance helps it go away more quickly.

Yes I get that too when my anxiety is really bad but it goes away when I can get myself calm.

For Valeria and all to spacyness applies...For whatever this is worth, a friend recently told me that spacy feeling can be related to a shortage of potassium. Can't hurt anything by taking potassium tablets for a while and see if it helps...If you see a change please post it. Thanks

Hi all:
Just a word of caution. I'm not really all that knowledgable on medical things.
I can only relate what some doctors have told me. (I am prescribed potassium and take it)
They said that too much potassium can mess up one's elcytrilites as badly as too little can.

So I'd say be cautious about adding potassium pills without getting blood work done first.

Sure don't mean to contridict anyone. But I've been told that this is something important to think about. I have hesitated to mention it , however. But thought maybe I should.

That's great advice MJ - a lot of people supplement with a thought and don't really know the underlying cause.
