Hello All,
This is my first posting in this group. I have been suffering from anxiety since a far back as I can remember but about 5 years ago it got 10X worse. I have since seen 2 different therapist and been on several medications including lexapro, effexor, cymbalta, and a couple others. Nothing seems to be helping and I am feel as though I am getting worse. I get anxious every single day and worry about it so much that I am getting panic attacks all the time. A couple weeks ago I was awakened by a panic attack and woke up sweating. I turned on the TV just as the infomercial was coming on. I couldn't believe with as long as I have been researching why I have been this way I never seen this commercial. I am up almost every night because of this. My New Years resolution is to once and for all get over this so I'm going to see my Dr again next week and let him know I am not getting any better and see about switching medications. I know Xanax is a dangerous medication from research I have done but I have read a lot of postings from people stating it helps them with the anxiety. Right now I feel helpless over this and can't stand the thought of dealing with it even one more day.

Welcome GoColts to the forum!!!

Sorry you have such bad panic. :(

In terms of meds, individual body chemistry is a major factor why some meds work on people and for others the meds don't work. The same goes for the meds' side effects: some people get the effects, some don't. Also: you can find on the internet a ton of bad stuff about meds and it can scare the heck out of you. You need to talk about this stuff with your dr.

BTW: Xanax (and it's generic, cheaper version) come in .25 mg. That's a very small dose.

This program is really excellent. Lucinda has a book called From Panic to Power that might be of help.

Again: welcome! :)

Thanks. I did pick up her book at the library. I also found somebody who has the program and I have been listening to it although I'm not doing as recommended and going thru a CD each week. I just want to see what is discussed then will go thru and do the program as intended. I did like hearing from others that are going thru similar issues. I literally felt as though I was losing my mind but it seems others felt the same way and are now over it and happy. Overall I don't really want to be on any medication but in my present state I don't think just this program can take away my panic attacks right now. It is the only thing I think about from the minute I wake up until I go to bed. I'm hopeful that I can get on some medication that can just calm me down enough to concentrate on the program and see if it works.

I also liked knowing that others experienced the same things I did. That way I knew I wasn't alone, even though it always felt that way.

Smart--getting the book at the library. ;)

I also listened to the program via another program. My friend had it.

Trust me when I say I also felt like I was literally losing my mind. Little did I know it was anxiety/panic.

If you need a little med now just til you start therapy and/or the program--there's nothing wrong with that.
