Thats a tough one to answer. However, remember, that psychologists are not doctors and cannot prescribe meds. Any MD can prescribe but they are not "specialists" in brain chemistry and, at least in my experience, will go with Big Pharma and toss an Rx for an antidepressant at you. Don't get me wrong, some family docs take the time to learn about side effects and the drugs they prescribe. A psychiatrist is an MD that has subspecialized in mental illnes. (and don't let that term scare you) They will test you and tell you, specifically, what their diagnosis is.
Is that what you want? A specific answer?
If your struggle is with a more simple Generalized anxiety problem then I would say, "Use the program!" Why not change the source of the problem instead of just treating the symptom?

Disregard that post about xanex. It definately takes the edge off, but it is a very addictive drug that is widely abused. Turns people into monsters. I see a psychologist and pyschiatrist, and I ask for non narcotic drugs to help. Some people can't just make it on programs and such. Taking away the symptomology is very important in severe anxiety and depression. It's a tough road, and anything that helps is good. And i'm a former drug addict, that's why I mentioned the xanex. Not good.
