Dear Cornflower, Thank you for your great assistance in suggesting that book by Charles Stanley!!!
rebekahleigh, We are to love others as we love our own self!!! The Bible says that no man hates his own flesh!!!
In this teaching, we find that we are to love ourselves as Christ has loved us!!!
He has removed our sins as far as east is from west never to be remembered no more!!!
When we have been forgiven by God, then, we have been freed from all of our sins!!! Therefore, our past sins are covered by the blood of Jesus, never to be remembered no more!!!
As Christ as forgiven us, so, ought we to also forgive our own selves and let go of the past, it's hurts and all of it's pains!!!
If you look in the mirror and look yourself in the eyes but you don't like the person you see, then you need to forgive yourself and learn how to love the person that God has made in you!!!
This is what we call a stronghold, or an incorrect thinking pattern that needs to be torn down in your mind!!!
If you have repented of your sins, and taken them before the Lord, and have been "born again" then you are forgiven... and now you need to come to realize the power of that!!!
You need to stop associating your failures with your "new creation" image, for God's Word says...
2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
Can you honestly look in the mirror and tell yourself, "I love you" and mean it with your heart???
I'm not talking about a prideful way, but a humble means of accepting who God has formed in you!!!
We need to love and accept the person that Christ has made in us, and forgive ourselves as Christ has forgiven us!!!
When you look inside, you hate yourself, you could kick yourself over and over for your past failures and choices!!!
You've came to Jesus and repented, but you haven't really accepted the truth about what Jesus has done for you yet!!!
You still feel ashamed and guilty over your past and you keep holding it against yourself!!!
The way you see yourself is not an accurate picture of what Christ has done for you!!!
It is basically denying the work that Jesus accomplished for you on the cross!!!
If your sins are forgiven, then you need to see yourself as separated from your sins... but no, the enemy will try to remind you of your past and continue to beat you up over sins that were supposed to be nailed to the cross!!!
You are wrapped up in guilt and condemnation my friend... and you NEED to forgive yourself!!!
You can go through deliverance, but if you don't forgive yourself for the mistakes you've made, you won't experience the breakthrough that you need to be totally set free!!!
When the recipient of a gift receives it gladly and with joy, the giver is glorified!!!
But when the recipient receives the gift, but ignores it, the giver is mocked, belittled and feels unappreciated!!!
When we fail to forgive ourselves, we are like a child who is given a trip to Disney World for Christmas, yet he keeps complaining that he can't go... even after his parents have already packed the car and are waiting on him to get in!!!
How would would you feel if you were that child's parents???
Wouldn't you feel sick inside, knowing that you spend all that money on this trip, the tickets, the hotel reservations, etc., and your son refuses to go because he doesn't believe that what you gave him was real????
Think how your heavenly Father feels when He looks down and sees His children walking around beating themselves up over things that He shed His blood so that they could be forgiven and set free from???
I believe it is clear that failing to forgive ourselves from our past mistakes is denying the work of the cross and the shed Blood of Christ in our lives!!!
When God's Word tells us that we've been washed clean with the Blood of Christ, and our sins are removed through the atoning work that Jesus did for us... yet we still "beat our own selves up for our mistakes, then we are basically saying, "I don't care what the Blood of Jesus has done, I still hate myself for what I've done!"
It's horrible to think such a thing, but that is what really happens when we refuse to forgive ourselves!!!
If you don't see yourself as a new creature in Christ, then you do have a problem!!!
You will be hindered and held back from freely and confidently living out who you really are in Christ!!!
You will be hesitant and feel unworthy to approach your Heavenly Father, because you feel you're a failure and unworthy... this is why it is necessary for your conscience to be cleansed your past failures!!!
Hebrews 9:14, "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"
Failing to forgive yourself will put blinders on your spiritual eyesight quickly!!!
It will cause you to see things through the eyes of guilt, shame and condemnation!!!
It will put a damper on your faith, and cause you not to be able to see clearly!!!
2 Peter 1:9, "But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins."
In the following verse, we are told to forgive one another!!!
Colossians 3:13, "Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye."
I know this posting was a little long, but, I do pray this helps you to let go of your past and forgive yourself, even as Christ has forgiven you!!!
God Bless You!!!

I don't know why, but, I still don't feel like I have given you enough information on this posting!!!
I guess it is because it is soooo important for you to understand these things, so, you can forgive yourself and let go of your past and forgive yourself!!!
The only way that you can beat yourself up, after Jesus has paid your debt, is if you aren't accepting the gift that He has given you!!!
If He's paid the debt, and you keep denying that fact, then you are rejecting the very gift that God has given you!!!
You need to accept what Jesus has done for you by faith!!!
The price for your redemption has been paid in full!!!
It's up to you receive it and realize that the blood of Jesus actually removes the sin from your record!!!
Now you need to see yourself as being forgiven and justified (which means, "just as if you've never sinned").!!!
You need to let God heal you!!!
As long as you keep holding something against yourself, you are blocking the Holy Spirit's power from entering and healing that area of your mind and life!!!
You need to open up your heart, and allow the light of Christ to shine into the darkness of your soul!!!
Begin to see the new creature of Christ within you!!! If you have repented of your past, and sought God's forgiveness, and have been "born again" then you are forgiven or justified (which means "like you have never sinned:)!!!
It is not that you should try to forget what happened, but, don't remind yourself of it either!!!
It is very important to see yourself through the Blood of Jesus!!!
You need to see your past as "paid in full" by the work that Christ did for you on the cross!!!
I think it would help you tremendously to say these words to yourself out loud on a regular basis...
2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
Say to yourself, "I am a new creation in Christ, old things have passed away and all things become new."
1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Say to yourself, "When I confess my sin, He is faithful and just and will forgive me it, regardless what kind of unrighteousness I may have committed."
Colossians 3:13, "Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye."
Say to yourself, "I will love and forgive myself, as Christ has forgiven me."
Psalms 103:12, "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us."
Say to yourself, "My sins are not simply covered, but they are removed from me... taken so far from me, that there is no way that they can be considered a part of me anymore!"
Revelations 1:5, "And from Jesus Christ, who... washed us from our sins in his own blood."
Say to yourself, "I am washed from my sins by the Blood of Christ Jesus Himself."
Say to yourself, "Because the Blood of Christ was shed for me, I am let go as if I have never sinned."
Romans 5:1, "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."
Say to yourself, "I have been justified (made right, as if I have never sinned) by faith and have peace with God through my Lord Jesus Christ
Galatians 2:16, "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified."
Say to yourself, "I cannot be justified by works of the law or acts of righteousness, but by my faith in Christ Jesus."
Romans 3:22, "Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference."
Say to yourself, "Because I believe, the righteousness of God is upon me."
Hebrews 9:14, "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"
Say to yourself, "Because of the Blood of Christ, my conscience can be purged of dead works (your past failures) so that I can serve the Living God."
Hebrews 10:22, "...draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water."
Say to yourself, "Not only did God chose to forget my sins, but He also wants me to forget them as well. He wants me to draw near to Him with a true heart, in full assurance of faith, being sprinkled clean from an evil conscience."
Romans 8:1, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."
Say to yourself, "I am in Christ Jesus, and therefore free from condemnation."
I know this is a lot to read, but, I pray with all of my heart that it helps you beyond human understanding!!!
I do pray this helps you in the Name of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!!

I ahve a big issue with commitment even though I have a very wonderful man in my life now.About 3 mths ago when my anxiety started back up I went for blood work and I promised the Lordthat it I was safe from diseases I would not ever return to that life again.I am safe and will keep my promise. However,I feel as though something in my life is missing and I know its that close walk I use to have with the Lord.I could always hear him talking to me.I miss that and I want it back Im just not sure how?

rebekahleigh, The Bible says to draw nigh unto HIM and HE will draw nigh unto you!!!
We do this through prayer and reading God's word!!! We must pray without ceasing in order to get back into fellowship with our Savior!!!
This may not happen overnight, but, I promise that if you will continue doing what is right in the eyes of God, keep your promises to HIM, pray, read the Bible and listen to gospel hymns, then, you will find that fellowship with God, once again!!!
Do not be discouraged, since, it does take a little while to get back where we want to be with our Savior, but, HE is faithful and HE will once again walk and talk with you!!!
He knows what we are going to do, even before we do it!!! We must trust in HIM, and know that HE loves us unconditionally!!!
We must surrender everything to HIM and come to HIM in prayer as humble as a little child!!!
You have not lost HIM, you have just lost the joy of your salvation!!!
God will restore your joy, but, you must do your part!!! Be consistent and never look back on the world of sin!!!
I pray this helped you in some way!!! Do these things and you will find that HE is more than willing to walk and talk with you, once again!!!
God Bless You Today and Always is My Prayer for you!!!
BTW: Ask the Lord to restore unto you, the joy of your salvation, and HE will!!!

"
The "Sword" is mentioned in the bible on numerous occasions..it is the 'BIBLE"..the "infoulable word of GOD"..this is where we build FAITH and LOVE..When we meditate on these 'Words", we begin to understand LOVE in it's entirety. So, if you will commit to studying the verses Ms. T Bones shared with you, YOU WILL BEGIN TO LOVE YOURSELF and FORGIVE YOURSELF!"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy -- meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you." {Philippians 4:8,9, NKJV}

Dear Momof6, Thank you sooooo much for that scripture...It is one of my VERY favorite scriptures in the Bible!!! I also thank you for the great advice and love that you have shown to our little sister!!! God Bless You Dearest Momof6!!!
rebekahleigh...I suggest that you try your best to let go of the pain your earthly father caused you and concentrate on how much your HEAVENLY FATHER loves you!!!
I also suggest that for your own sake, that you make a conscious decision to forgive your earthly father for his alcoholic abusive behavior!!!
Think of it like this, the past is dead, so, why do I continue to hang on to past hurts and pains??? It is soooooo much better to hand your pain and hurts over to your HEAVENLY FATHER and ask HIM to place forgiveness in your heart towards your earthly father!!!
Imagine your earthly father telling you how sorry he was...I know this may be difficult, but, imagine your father crying and apologizing to you for all the years of abuse that he put you through!!!
Then, go to his grave site and take a single red rose, place it there and tell him that he is forgiven!!!
I know this sounds very difficult, but, I believe with all of my heart that this will help you to let go of all of the guilt, pain and abuse that you have suffered at his hands!!!
Also, I think that is why that you have turned to men during all of those years!!! I also think that is why you are having difficulty in your present relationship!!!
You also need to practice healing that "inner child" which lives inside of you, who, got left behind because of all of the abuse!!!
The "adult you" is perfectly capable of taking excellent care of that "inner child" who lives within each of us!!!
While upon your bed at night, imagine you at various ages in your childhood during these abusive times!!!
Now, imagine the "adult you" holding that "inner child" very close to your chest!!! Make sure you tell her how much you love her and how sorry that you are for all the pain and abuse she has endured!!!
Using your imagination, continue to hold the little child within you {inner child} very tightly!!! Tell her that she is safe, secure, loved, and worthy to be loved and taken care of!!! Let the "inner child" know that the "adult you" will always be there for her and that she has no need to be frightened anymore, because she is safe in your care!!!
Do this exercise, until you find that the "inner child" feels safe, secure, content and knows that she is worthy of much love and forgiveness!!! Make sure you let her know that the things which happened to her was not her fault and that she has no need to be ashamed or feel guilty about anything!!!
Now, I would like to share a video with you how much your Heavenly Father loves you!!!
When you watch this video, you need to realize that this was representing Jesus before the crucifixion!!! He was praying soooo hard that his sweat became as great drops of blood, only, to come back and find HIS disciples sleeping!!!
Then, they were going to stone this lady to death who had committed sins with men and Jesus wrote in the sand...Yea without sin, cast the first stone!!! They had to throw down their stones!!!
Then, He packs the cross laden very heavy with all of our sins upon it up Calvary's lonely hill!!!
I just wanted to refresh your memory, now, I ask of you to watch this very powerful video and listen to the beautiful song, since, I know this will help you more than you could ever begin to imagine!!!
Here is the video.... You Raise Me Up
BTW: When you see scene picturing
Jesus raising this lady up, then, know that this is you!!!
These things will change your life forever, if you will give them a chance!!! I love you sister!!!
