Hey cantbeme even though you make me ROFL, there's nothing wrong with checking our tongues.

When there's white stuff on there we are in "detox" mode, my dentist told me I have a "scalloped tongue" which was shaped from my crowns. So there is a lot of truth and answers in our tongues.

Tongues are cool - they are one big muscle, they are an amazing creation where we can taste so many different things.

I agree that it is unhealthy to obsess over anything, that is, without doing something about it. If one keeps looking at his/her tongue day in and day out without making any kind of lifestyle changes or something proactive of that nature, sure it is obsessive and unproductive.

I have never heard of "naval gazing" okay I'm not so sure I want to find out, are we talking about oranges or belly bottons?

white stuff on the tongue means we are in "detox" mode eh. Haven't heard that one before, it's possible that its true. If anybody is going to obsess about their tongue then I'd suggest learning about tongue diagnosis in chinese medicine.

A thick white coating could suggest you have a cold if it's accompanied by itchy throat.

Yes, it does mean you are detoxing. When one fasts or is sick, the tongue is coated with a white residue.

When you have a cold or other sickness, your body throws off toxins via mucus. A lot of the time it is excess yeast or candida (thus the itchy throat Mike), but it's all toxic residue that the body doesn't need, which is why a lot of the time you wake up with it, after 6-8 hours without food, your body detoxes more during sleep, but a longer fast will detox your body even further.

Another symptom of throwing off toxins is the feeling of "fuzzy" teeth. But most people don't experience this unless they are in detox mode via long periods of fasting beyond 24 hours. I have done varying lengths of fasts and have experienced these symptoms.

In Natural Hygiene all forms of disease are referred to as Toxemia, not to be confused with the term for sickness during pregnancy.

Toxemia just means that the body is not in a healthy state. Because we are all unique individuals, we experience Toxemia in different ways and on various levels, but the root cause is usually the same which is our bodies not being in a healthy state due to our lifestyles, diet and environmental factors.

:)BELLY BUTTONS GIRL-BELLY BUTTONS!! The ones on your belly that if you lose the button your bum falls off!! Some people who are inert and have not one solemn intention of being productive are often referred to by nurses as 'naval gazers'!! *lol* My sister says she never found the exercise very productive in the least!! ;-) I totally agree.
NOW, as for me who figures she had everything in the book over the past year, FUZZY TEETH is something new. Dear Heaven--I hope that condition does not visit my poor beaten body!!

Yes, doctors always check your tongue and there is a reason for that. But constantly checking one or more of our physical attributes or systems is just asking for trouble We all have good days and bad days. Also my dentist tells me that it takes two weeks for the tongue to learn something, and then never forgets. Interesting as is most of our wiring, but not to be observed unless your name is 'ART'!!!*ROLFL*

Shifrah your right the body does throw off toxins via mucus which is shown by the mucous layer of both the nasal cavity and the throat. There is excess production of mucous due to toxins so there would be a thicker layer of whiteness on the tongue. I hadn't thought of that in respect to the eastern medicine, I tend not to look at eastern medicine in a western viewpoint. It can make you go crazy, especially if you have to learn both western and easter medicine at the same time.

Candida is completely overused. I've worked with a naturopath in one of the wellness clinics i held my practice at.

What is fuzzy teeth? I've never heard of that one before.

This could lead to a pretty interesting discussion! Perhaps we should start a new thread so as not to go too OT.
