Hi, I started to take lexapro last night at 7pm. I was suppose to take 10 mgs, but i cut it in half to 5mgs because i was afraid of side effects. I woke up this morning at 5am and was very dizzy. I couldnt move my head at all for about 3 hours. The dizziness is better now, i just have alittle blurred vision. Did anyone get these side effects? I was on buspar for about 3 weeks, but i stopped that yesterday because it wasnt doing anything. Also, if you did get dizziness, how long did it last? Its the weekend now, so i will try again, but doing the week, I have to go to work.... Thanks so much!!!

Hello. I'm Jennifer. I've taken Lexapro for 2 and a half years. I take it for panic/anxiety disorder. For the first 2 weeks my symptoms were a little worse, but then at around a month I felt a lot better. So it took about a month to feel the benefits of the medicine. I started at 10mg and now am on 20mg. I also gradually increased my dosage, but with my doctors help and guidance. I hope this helps.

After using a couple different medications over the course of several years, I tried Lexapro. I was on 10 mg for about a month. My anxiety worsened 100% while taking it. I began having panic attacks again, and feeling symptoms of anxiety all day long. It is the reason I restarted this program. I got off of Lexapro and went back to taking Effexor and am starting to feel much better. Just my experience, I'm sure it works well for others.

Hi helpsowanted
I started taking the generic of Zoloft last Dec.
I was very dizzy in the mornings for some time. I had other side effects and wondered why I was so affected while others who used these meds had no problem at all.
I was encouraged to not give up on the medication.
It took nearly 7 weeks for my system to adjust to the medication.
Give it some time and consult with your doctor.
Best Wishes

I started taking lexapro about 1.5 weeks ago and I have definitely had increased anxiety! I have also had many more panic attacks during that time period, but my doctor has assured me that in another week or so my body will adjust. In the meantime I have started taking buspar to help calm down the anxiety and it has actually been helping. Then once the lexapro kicks in, I plan to wean off of the buspar. Maybe it's just a matter of timing or combination of medicines...

I've been on Lexapro 20mg for 4 years now. A couple of years ago I had a psychiatrist push it to 40mg for a few months but I've been at 20mg since. All in all I didnt have severe side effects I would say the only thing I had was slight brain fog when I started it but that quickly went away. It cut my anxiety to near zero and I've probably had 1 or 2 anxiety attacks in the 4 years. Even then (with the 1 or 2 attack) they were very quick and minor. By the time they were over I was like, "Ohh, I think I just had an attack!" Good Drug! With this program I would like to get off the drugs as I am sick of paying a $40 co-pay every month.

INDY5QQ IM GLAD TO HEAR THE MEDS HELPED YOU. I ALSO TAKE LEXAPRO AND HAVE HAD NO SIDE AFFECTS. I DID WELL FOR A YEAR AND NOW THE SYMPTOMS ARE BACK. NOT AS BAD AS THEY WHERE HOWEVER STILL UNCOMFORTABLE. DID IT HELP WHEN YOUR DOC UPED THE DOSE, AND WHAT ADVISE CAN YOU OFFER ME. THANKS FOR YOUR STORY. GOD BLESS

It helped when the doc upped the dose but I felt, at the time, that I was better than the drug. Meaning, I didnt want the drug to be "me" or "who I am". I wanted to be me, as much as I could. I was on 40mg for about 3 months then tapered back down to 20mg.
Biggest advice...no alcohol and minimize the caffeine. I admit, I still have a lot of caffeine (probably over 400 mg per day!) but I used to drink those crazy energy drinks and double strength coffee all day!

Hi guys/gals,
I was wondering, has anyone had success with Lexapro at 20mg when 15 didnt work for them? I have been on 10 for about a month and 15 for another month and was feeling decent for a few weeks, then last week, I get my period and my morning anxiety is back 100% even after my period is gone. My dr wants me to go to 20mg, but I am afraid if I have to taper off and try something else b/c its not working, it will be that much harder from 20 than 15 with the withdrawal. Anyone with a positive story wherethey needed 20 mg to help. I thought after all this time, I would be better by now. Its kind of discouraging to be doing good and then it come back. Thanks so much, Maria
