I think ativan would be better for anxiety, however it seems too strong for me. I take l/2 of .25 xanax when I'm anxious. Never take a whole one during the day. I really needed it yesterday but I was groggy all day and laid around so don't like that feeling. At the time it was better than crying and being angry. I listened to 2 CD's while resting to calm me down. After not doing the program for a couple yrs. and having more anxiety now, I realize the importance of it especially at the first signs of anxiety. I wish you well.

jdog hi, just like you i am on ativan i believe its the best when neede med to take exspecially when you are panicking. but to much and it can become addictive. Ive just started the program and hope that i will be able to be off all meds in the end( stimulants and or downers)good luck to you you have to find the rite thing for you
Hi Zach:
Those are two dif. kinds of meds.
The Ativan, as Barb said, is an anit-anxiety medication.
The Zoloft is more of an anti-depresant.
Only your doctor could tell you how to take the medication.
Some people take both I think.
There is side effects to most anti-depresants until your body adjusts to them. And there may always be some.
The main thing, as you take the medication, is to really work at this program if you have it.
This program has helped many, many people.
Also there is much benefit in a spiritual approach. Faith in God is a great help in our prgress to overcome this disorder. I find that prayer helps to sooth me. Jesus is the greatest confidante that we'll ever have.
Blessings,
MJ

I am on Zoloft which Is for Panic attacks and ocd. I have a servere Panic attack diorder and honestly the Zoloft is the best mdeicine I have ever been on. I currently take 50 mg of Zoloft which I will be moving up to 100 mg next week, and 30 mgs of buspar. I was on for 4 years and it stoped working a year ago and was prescribed the Prozac for almost a year and I didnt like it, but since it has been a year I am now back on the Zoloft. I have been taking it for 1 week and feel great. Remember that it does take anywhere from 2-3-4 weeks to get in your system. I only take it for the anxiety. i have no depression.
