I was wondering if anyone mybe taking singular, an medication used to treated asthma and allergic rhinitis? I just learned over the weekend that this medication is being reviewed by the FDA d/t claims of incresaed incidents of anxiety/depression and siucidal tendenacies.

I have had anxiety/panic attacks all my life. I started on singular due to asthma/allergies about 2 yrs ago. My sister questioned if my continuing anxiety, even though working with a coach and the attacking anxiety program, maybe related to the medication. This has me feeling anxious.

I have written out a plan on how to handle my worry related to the fear of FDA warning on this medication as part of my problem solving strategies. I will be contacting the MD wehn the office opens on Monday, I will dicuss this with my coach. I did speak with the pharmacist regarding my concerns. He directed me back to the MD, but at least I felt I was doing some action to resolve my fears.

I guess what has me so worried is how do I know if my anxiety is related to this or just the stress i have been under this past year. I had a nephew attempt suicide last year and had a serious helath scare myself last November which helped me decide I needed to restart the program. That's why I decided to get a coach to help me through the program. overall I definitely feel my anxiety is improving. But I had a tough week last week where I had a alot of obessessive scary thinking/ what ifing and guilt and worry. This may very well be the reason I am feeling jittery today over this FDA warning.

If anyone has any suggestions or thoughts I would greatly appreciate it. Take care and God Bless.

I too, have been taking singulair for about 3 years now. I have had anxiety long before that but I was wondering about this myself after seeing the news. It surely can't be helping my situation. However, it really helps with my allergies. Evil trade off I guess.

I wanted to renew this post. I have done some research and it's very scary. If anyone is on Singulair and experiencing anxiety and depression, go to medications.com and read the blogs.
