Tough Morning
Well, today I awoke at 5 a.m., after waking up to feed our baby at 2:30 a.m., with sore/ache-y (sp?) shins and ankles. Not sure why!!!??? Lately, if it's not one thing, it's another health related worry. I'm so frustrated and stressed and exhausted. My anxiety has come back in a big way and I'm having trouble shaking it.
Hi Joe - I have been through the program and just recently celebrated my one year anniversary of no panic and anxiety that is appropriate. I used to worry about every ache and pain that I had. I had read an article that meditation can help with anxiety. I decided to give meditation a try - I used a guided meditation for emotional ease - it is by Richard and Mary Maddux - I got their stuff from itunes. It was one of the best presents I ever gave myself. The meditation allows you to feel everything that is happening in your body without judgment, without resistance and without thought about it, just be in the moment and feel it, all while tell you that you are in a safe enviroment. It helped me to deal with the "energy" that I was feeling in my body and to not fear it.
You mentioned that you were up feeding your baby at 2:30. Sometimes when we are overtired our anxiety can get the best of us. If you recognize being tired is fueling your anxiety, it may be easier to deal with. For example, when I have too much caffeine I start to feel jittery, but I know it is from the coffee, it is not anxiety or anything physical other than caffeine that is doing this to me and my anxiety is not coming back.
Letting go of your fear and acknowledging that it is anxiety is scary, but you have to feel your anxiety all the way through and realize that it is not going to hurt you. The more I let myself feel the aches and pains and body symptoms without judgment, the less I noticed them and they lost their grip on me.
Good Luck to you.
