Hi there.

I've been falling asleep and getting a good 6 or 7 hours. BUT, upon waking in the morning, about 10 seconds into it, I start to get horrible anxiety. Of course this scares me and exhausts me and I'm back to square one as though I never got any sleep.

Does anyone have any good tactics for dealing with this? I can't afford the program right now....I did however order From Panic to Power because my copy is in storage...just waiting for it to come in.

Thank you!

I also wake every morning with anxiety. I dont sleep very well at night. I can go to sleep but I cant stay asleep. I am up and down a couple of times during the night. I may get and average of 4 to 5 hours anight. Waking up with anxiety starts your day off wrong!! I wish had a answer to how to fix our problem. If you hear of one please share. Just know you are not alone.

Well, I also struggle with this situation. I wake up everyday with only about 5 to 6 hrs of sleep and I always have a heaviness in the middle of my chest and near my heart area. I wish there was a "MAGIC" pill that we could take to remove all of these symptoms!!!

I can't afford the program either but I have gone to the library and probably have gotten every book on panic and anxiety. There is so much information about this condition, but for me personally I have try to journal, have a few supportive friends and talk and mean really talked to GOD about what is going on with me. But all I can say that we all agree that we are in this together and we can get through this. Please private message me if you ever need to talk, because I dont have all the answers, but I am a great listener.

i've had this to. it was really bad at one point now it's better, but still there. my husband told me to get right up when i wake up and not lay in bed feeling that way. When it was really bad, that's what i did. it was hard and still had anxiety but over time it got a lot better. hope this helps. also found it helpful to not watch news shows in the am but more funny stuff like funny animal shows.

hello Keeping the Faith!

I know that when my anxiety started a few mths ago(and still on going now), but when it started, this first happened to me quite a lot. I know that you don't have the program as yet, but it comes with a really good relaxation cd, which the session runs about 15mins,and has deep breathing and body scan type of things to do. This really helped me, and when I wake up like that I have my cd player with headphones right by me bed side, and would would listen and participate in that relaxation technique for 15mis to a half hr and it really helped to calm me down. I would routinely listen to it now last thing at night and first thing in the morning even if I am not anxious and it helps out. My suggestion would be to get a relaxation type of cd like this and do that...try it out and see if it helps. For example if I am anxious and my pulse is over 100 beats/min, after that cd is done, it has dropped to about 70/min! One suggestion of a book that comes witha good relaxation cd is called "The Mindful Way through Depression" Authors are MArk Williams, John Teasdale, Zindel Segal, and Jon Kabat-Zinn. I found it a good book and CD. Hope any of that is helpful. Come join us in the general chat room one day if you have not been in...you can get some really helpful suggestions from people there!

Hi-

My suggestion would be to stop eating carbs about 2-3 hours before you go to bed. Especially don't eat sugary stuff/processed stuff, but all stuff like fruits, yogurt, ice cream, breads, baked goods, etc. If you do eat them, your blood sugar will go higher, then your pancreas will secrete insulin to be able to get that blood sugar into your cells and thus, your blood sugar will lower and often lowers too much. Then you get an adrenaline squirt to release some glucose from your muscle cells and you get the anxiety that comes with that adrenaline squirt.

Eat some protein with each meal (about every 4 hours), and eat clean. It will help. And always eat breakfast. Whole grain carbs and protein.

Thank you, JR! I will do just that! I am also looking locally into getting into therapy and getting off my meds at some point!
