correct tapering off lexapro?

Hi

I have been on Lexapro for about one year, Starting at 10mg, then 15 now 20mg for the past say 4-5 months save the last month, where i have dropped to 15mg per day.

I now want to get off the meds completely and go to 10mg on next packet for one month, then 5mg for the month after then zero. Is dropping 5mg per month suitable. I figured i would drop 5mg per packet until down to zero.

Does this seem like a safe time scale and way to taper.

i took both effexor and lexapro together. I wanted to try stopping my medication, but my doctor refused to lower my medications. so i ended up having to taper off myself.

what i did was lower the dosage weekly. 150mg of effexor, then 75 mg, then 5mg of lexapro alone.

the only withdrawal symptoms i had were headaches with a "brain zap feeling", and increased depression and anxiety. those lasted for about 2 weeks after i stopped everything

I used alcohol in between to help me with those symptoms.
