Hello Doug,
Your nerves are raw with anxiety and the adrenaline surge right now. This was what tiggered my first panic attack as an adult in early 96'. I know your fear, it will pass.
Do you drink a lot of caffiene or sugary beverages? If so, gradually remove them from your diet over the next few weeks. Nicotene can also cause these feelings.
Make your bedroom a haven of relaxation. If you can afford to, invest in some high quality pillows and cotton sheets and comfy sleepwear. Clear the room of unneeded clutter. It may sound strange, but this can make a huge difference. If there is a scent you like, find a scent diffuser to fill the room with a calming aroma. Bath and Body Works has some great scent blends for relaxation and sleep.
Always use the relaxation cd/tape when going to sleep. It's the best one out there.
You've already come this far, It will get better.
Having trouble calming myself
Thanks for your support everyone! I did see my doctor today, she took a blood and stool sample and we are going to see how I'm feeling over the next week. She thinks it's a virus. I had mentioned to one of my friends that I have been sick with this stomach thing and she said her mom has the same symptoms right now. When I went to the doctor today, the medical assistant was taking my vital signs and asked me what was wrong...when I explained what was going on, she said that she had the same thing for a few weeks recently. After the doctor's office, I stopped into a herbal/holistic store. I figured maybe there was some kind of herb that would help my symptoms beyond the chamomile-peppermint tea that I have been drinking...the guy working there said that there have been a ton of people in lately with the same symptoms. So, all signs kind of point to a virus. I am so done with googling my symptoms...I was convinced earlier that I had a parasite infection, IBS, an ulcer, gall bladder disease, etc. etc.
Enough already! I did tell my doctor that I waited this long because I thought it may have been anxiety related. The thing is that anxiety can do so much to our bodies, that I really had no idea if this was all in my head or not. Of course, my anxiety has been spiking lately because I'm not eating and I'm not sleeping well...it is one vicious cycle. Anyway, don't mean to go on about it, but I wanted to post this in case this is a virus and someone is out there feeling awful and wondering if they too are imagining it!
