I am nineteen and I am having trouble making friends. Everytime I get in a social scence I feel like I am about to have an anxiety attack. I feel like there is something wrong with me because I should be able to make friends. When I do manage to make friends, they invite me to go somewhere and I just freak out. I tell them that I am busy and I dont go. Does this happen to anyone else?

I have some similar issues, especially at large social gatherings. Have you been diagnosed or checked for social phobias? It's closely related to general anxiety and panic disorder. I might be something you may want to check out with your doctor or therapist.

I know you posted this awhile ago but I just wanted to comment on it. First I hope you are doing well in the program. Secondly I know exactly how you feel. I used to be the guy inviting people out and now I'm the one making excuses about why I can't go out. Anxiety sucks but trust me the breathing helps and the positive thoughts do as well. If you put yourself out there and face your fears it does get easier to go out to places. I still have my anxiety about going out but I try to face them and it is hard but I know I still have to go and be positive for myself and you do too. Stay up and stay strong.
