Well, I have suffered from anxiety since a teen. I did not know it at the time....but over time I figured it out. I avoid certain situations....flying, driving in cars with people outside of my husband, mother, sister, people close to me who know that I have attacks. I want to be able to do things, travel, have fun. Not wory about things before they happen. I LOVE Rick Springfield and most recently booked a fan cruise. I got SO freaked out about being on the ship and thinking.....what if I get sea sick, what if there is not to do, and I go crazy thinking about getting sick and don't have any fun, etc. that I could not SLEEP for days. I ended up sending an email at 4:00am to the travel person saying "please cancel, I have anxiety and have not been able to sleep for 3 days" I was lucky that they did -- but I think that I am missing out on an experience that I would have loved and it sucks. I can go to work, function....but I avoid certain social situations.....especially when I don't feel in control. I am kind of scared because I don't drink caffeine, don't eat sugar, or refined carbs. I still can't do this stuff......I guess I would feel worse if I did. I have tried so much.....I don't have a lot of hope about this working. Anyone else ever felt this way?

Hi Tonia... I wonder if you have the program? If so you will know that the only way to get over our fears is to face them. I know it is very unfortunate and hard! :) When you change your diet it is still not a magic button, it just helps aleviate food caused anxiety. We are then able to use our breathing technique to calm ourselves much easier. All of the skills in the program need to be practiced over and over, especially the postive self talk, which for some of us is the absolute hardest. That is what you need to do Tonia. You are being very negative with yourself. If you have the program then you HAVE the skills to make yourself feel better. So what if you get sea sick, you woouldn't be the only one. They also have Doctors on board, so they will be able to give you something to help that. If you "freak out", which alot of us are scared of, then you can go to your cabin and do the things you need to do to calm yourself. As for fun you are the only one who can stop you from having it. I am not being insensitive Tonia, believe me, I have been in the same boat (pardon the pun ha). I was agoraphobic and didn't go past my own front porch for over a year. I now go places and have my life back. I am still a work in progress, but I am much more confident because of the skills I learned in the program. I am so sorry that you have to go through this, but just remember there is hope. I hope I have helped you some. Good luck to you! :)

Dear Tonia, I didn't fly for twenty years. After I did the program six years ago I have flown to: Costa Rica twice. Jamaica, St. Lucia, Grand Bahamas, Las Vegas, Quebec, St. Martin. The program works. Just do it.
