New To The Program
I am new to the program. I just started
listening to the tapes.
Over the last several years, my problems
with anxiety and depression have got worse.
I can relate to some of the symptoms and fears.
The main concern I have had is I won't get
better.
I am in treatment for depression and attend
a support group twice a week. Unfortunately,
the clinic doesn't treat anxiety.
I have done a lot and continue to for myself.
Attending support group, journaling, regular
exercize, changes in my diet.
I still am unable to get a handle on my
depression and anxiety. I have no support
from family and take on my treatment alone.
The same is true with this.
My plan is to take it slow. Do one thing a
day with the program. This so I don't overwhelm
myself and get frustrated.

Hi! I am re doing the program after a succesful 15yrs after my first time through. I was panic attack free until about a yr and a half ago. I am only on session 1 and i did the relation tape the next day. Day 1 was harder but day 2 has be better so far! I would encourage you to ask a close, trusted friend or family member to be a support for you. We all start out being embarassed and ashamed about our problems but if there is one person who has an open and loving heart that you know will be there for you it might help to enlist them. This is usually harder for men. You are doin the right thing by taking it slow...and 1 day at a time! I have been reminding myself to take this 1 little baby step at a time for the past 2 days.....and if a have a rough day or a little set back...it no big deal....we all have bad days, right. I would love to hear how your doing each day!! Nice to meet ya!

Re: New To The Program
I feel the same way as the original poster (not sure if it is Jillian or poetrob as it seems as though there are alot of double posts in here right now with the forum change over).
Anyway I feel like I am trying to do all of this myself - I have no family that can help me (bi-polar sister who is barely making it through herself right now - mental wards, etc. , and a mother who is heavily addicted to pain meds). I have no friends close enough to where I feel I can rely or burden them with my situation. I do have weekly treatment in a group session and bi-weekly individual therapy, but the group is more focused on alcohol and drugs than anxiety or depression and it only helps so much. The individual therapy is helpful, but I can only afford to go once every two weeks.
So, there ya go, feeling like I've got to do it all by myself. I am a strong person though, I hope to come out the other side feeling good. Keep those positive thoughts going...

Re:
it is good to here that I am not the only one starting over. I also did the program over 15 years ago and was doing fairly well by the last couple of years things have gotten worse and so I ordered the program again on CD's and decided it was time to try again. I dont really have any close friends that I could share with so am at a loss of what to do there. My husband is somewhat understanding but he has trouble when I get frustrated.songgirl wrote:Hi! I am new to the program and am hoping that this program will help me overcome the anxiety and depression that impacts my life.
