I hate waking up in the morning so much I don't! I don't get up till afternoon. I feel best at night and have always been a night owl. Somehow at night I feel 'safer'. Now I want to learn how to be my own safe place no matter what time it is.
Even with staying in bed really late I still have that feeling of dread most days before getting up. It's the dread of dealing with the anxiety that I feel like I am batting away all the time. I also have OCD which nags away at my brain. It's exhausting. Staying in bed just seems so much easier. But then I too get more nervous the longer I put off getting up.
I know it's the anxiety and when I can get myself calm it is so much better.
Let's all stick with the program. I think Lucinda's really onto what works.
Morning Anxiety
I can relate! An exercise I've started is writing as soon as I wake up. At lease two pages of stream of consciousness writing. At first it feels silly, but I feel a lot more refreshed and "empty" afterwards. Meaning I can face the day with a clearer mind. Not always a sparkling clean mind, but definitely clearer. I highly recommend this.
Hello all! I'm new here! I just got my Stress tapes. Alas, it is missing the relaxation tape. I got this off Ebay. I hope to get that solved.
Anyway, the morning jitters could also be caused by hormones! Most of us on this road to curing anxiety may also have adrenal fatigue. I've been diagnosed with that and also am now on bio identical hormone therapy. I've only been on them for a few weeks and sometimes it takes months to get the body balanced. Anyway, be sure to look carefully at your nutrition! You may be experiencing some kind of hypoglycemic reaction as well. Our cortisol levels peak in the morning and when we wake and are hungry, it can cause shakiness. DO NOT feed your body with sugars! I found even yogurt and bananas are extremely high in sugar. I'm doing a lot of studying on nutrition right now and am off caffeine, starchy carbs (anything "white") and am even cutting way, way back on chocolate. Also no alcoholic beverages. My anxiety is much better, but I have a long way to go. I know I need the tapes on the Attacking Anxiety as well as diet, exercise and nutrition.
I'm having severe insomnia these nights, but I'm thinking positive thoughts and I know one night I will actually get 7 -8 hours of sleep! It's a struggle. Best of luck to us all! Think happy!

After all this, they've discovered I have SVT which is a condition that causes extremely fast heartbeats...which in turn was causing my anxiety. So, Thursday (3 days!) I'll have a cardiac ablation done & will no longer need meds for anxiety or SVT!! God is good!!
With this being said, before anyone goes & gets on medications, spends tons on therapy, etc...see if you can go to a cardiologist to ensure that you do not have a condition causing it. Although mine is not life-threatening, I will feel SO much better once it's fixed. Also, my cardiologist says that there are many people misdiagnosed with anxiety disorders when truly they have an underlying condition.

Hi all,
I am dealing with the same issue. I wake up in the morning feeling like i cant breathe. Its so weird to me because when i wake up i know within a couple of minutes of being up i am going to have an anxiety attack. I hate it. starting my day off like that makes it difficult for me to be happy throughout the day. I am in my second week of the program and i am noticing some change. But i know that i have alot of working to do in order to be where i need and want to be.
