Heart palpitations, anyone else have them?
I have heart palpitations really bad sometimes and I have accepted that they are stress/anxiety related. It is definately my least favorite symptom. I worry about them but I go on and live my life. I used to think that I would kill over during a palpitating moment. It hasn't happened. I continue to exercise and do whatever I want just as if I didn't have palpitations. It isn't always easy, but I have learned that they aren't going to kill me. I've lived through the palpitions in just about every situation and I'm still here. I do notice that they are more frequent when I'm worrying excessively or anxious about something. To Ellen: I do get that spacey feeling and I just try to ignore it and pretend it isn't happening. Eventually, it goes away. Some days are better than others. Just don't give up.
Hi Trina,
What kind of nurse are you? I'm a nurse too and sometimes feel like my medical knowledge is a curse! Like you, I suffer from "Googlelitis". I can turn a common cold into the rarest disease imaginable! I get heart palpitations all the time too. I've had EKG's, worn holter monitors, blood tests, echocardiograms, a stress test, and a chest x-ray. All negative. I wonder sometimes if doctors have overlooked anything but I just have to trust their judgement and try to do what I can on my part to prevent any heart related events. When I go to the doctor about one ailment or another and the doctor finds out that I'm a nurse, his/her first comment is, "you should know better". Have you ever experienced this?

I have heart palpitations and they were caught on an EKG and I was told that I have PVC's. Even though the rest of my EKG was normal and several doctors, including a cardiologist told me I was okay, I still worry because they have a medical term- that they will hurt me. I have panic attacks and anxiety. Has anyone else actually been diagnosed with PVC's?
From what I've read about PVC's it can occur in a healthy heart. They are often caused by caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, ANXIETY and exercise. Increased levels of adrenaline are thought to play a roll.
There are supplements that you can take to cut down on them, but have you learned the relaxation and breathing techniques that go along with this program?
It's been a real life saver for me. I know the reason I get my palpitations is because I have an obsessive scary thought or I am anxious. If you worry about it too much it will just get worse. If you do about sixty seconds of deep breathing your heart rate will go down and return to normal.
If several Dr's and even a cardiologist told you you were okay, anxiety and possibly diet can be the culprit.
I hope this helped. I wish you the best of luck! <3

Ezra,
Everyone has PVC's (Premature Ventricular Contractions) from time to time. LindsCT is right about all the different things they are caused from. Most people cannot feel when they have a premature beat but others (like those of us with anxiety) can. And of course once we take notice of them, the more they occur! What a vicious cycle, eh?

Hi Trina,
Yes I do know what your going thru, For years this has happened off and on to me and it is annoying.
I ended up having tests after tests checking my heart. For days straight my heart would do this.Nothing would ever show up, I keep saying this can not be normal and along with you, My doctor is not concerned either.
Im also senative to certin medications that make my heart feel like its going to jump out of my chest.
I take Inderal 60mlg LA for it, I really think it does help.
Don't we wish all this anzeity would pack there bags and head far far away.

Hey I also have heart palpitations and YES they are very annoying i used to have them like every 5 min at times almost everyday ,,, its was horrible but i became active.... and I stopped thinking about it and it dramatically stopped now i only have one palpitation when am really stressed but it got better so i believe that they really go away i think the key is being active!!
WOW! This is exactly what I am going through now!! And I too am in the medical field!! I think that knowledge goes a long way but for us anxiety sufferers it goes too far!!! I check my pulse a million times a day and I say to my fiance "is your heart ever fast when..." and he just looks at me and says "I don't know I don't check it" Wow....wish I could do that! I get dizzy, I check my pulse, I have palpitations, I check my pulse, I get short of breath....yeah it continues....I wish there was something magic that could take it all away! I have been in the program since 9/06 and I still listen to my tapes. I know I haven't followed it to the tee but I keep getting back up on the horse and trying. It helps to hear others like us! And another word of advice....my anxiety got ten times worse when I would google my symptoms....it became better after I stopped my cyberchondria. Keep fighting!!!
Cheri {8^) keep looking up ~!~ BLESSED ARE THE CRACKED FOR THEY LET IN THE LIGHT
