I'm new to the program and I'm just starting with the first lesson. I'm tired of feeling uptight, numb, dizzy, short of breath with a side of panic. However one of the things that I'm most tired of is getting hives. I've had them all through my life. They come in bouts then they dissapear for a long time and they didn't last long. Usually only for either a few days or for a week or so. Now I'm going through a bad case of them and I've had them for over two months. My skin is wrecked from scratching and its depressing me even more since I look awful. Has anyone been through this like me? I understand that anxiety and depression can manifest itself physically in many ways and I've always been told that my hives were due to nervs. I take Benadryl to ease the hives but I'm tired of taking a medicine that wipes me out and makes me so tired that I can't function. It's not as bad as it was when it started but I believe now my hives are from a combination of the anxiety I get from way my life is going (which is not going the way I'd like it to go) and anticipatory anxiety (stress from anticipation of the next hives attack) because of the hives themselves. I cherish every waking moment that I am without them but fear the next time they come about. I'm hoping that when I beat my anxiety and depression that this physical manifestation will go away. Am I alone?

I know exactly what you mean. The hives on my legs stress me out more and the more I stress the worse it gets. I've been to docs, but they just tell me it is caused by stress and give me some cream for it that doesn't work. I was put on Lexapro (anti-depressant) and instantly they went away. But after three months they started coming back. I just started this program too. Maybe once I can control the anxiety, the hives will go away. So if you hear of anything that helps, let me know!

:( my daughter is 12 years old and she has been breaking out with the hives for 3 days now,but whats so weird is that, she is fine until she gets on the phone with her dad.the doctors at the hospital said that they could be caused by stress, and i seem to now agree, because her dad filed for custody about amonth ago,and he only did that because i told him i wanted to modify my child support, after telling him that,2 days later i received a court order to appear in court because he wanted custody.he doesnt have any grounds to stand on,but they are bring up the fact that i do suffer from panic disorder and anxiety disorder.do u think also that my daughter could be getting stressed by what is going on?i need some advice....

Momnmass,
It might be a good idea to call a dermatologist.
Since they specialize in skin conditions only.
I recently went myself for something different though. I also took my daughter she breaks out with a red rash on her cheeks and arms. They might recommend a topical cream.
I wish you the best!
take care :)

Hi-
About 9 years ago I suffered with nearly full body hives for about 6 months. No 'medical' cause could be found and stress was the next most obvious reason. Believe me, six months of hives will nearly drive you crazy. At the time I had started a new, more stressful job and I was engaged to be married. I even had hives on my honeymoon. They finally went away about a month after I got married. Long story short, I just got divorced about 2 months ago. Looking back, I'm pretty sure that I should have never married my now ex-husband and the hives were a part of my body or self or whatever knowing that to be so. However, being that I and most of us have to learn things the hard way, I ignored the hives and other signs too that I shouldn't have married who I did. Stress can definitely cause hives. In fact, no 'medical' cause can usually be found for hives. For me, anyway, it would have helped if I had been willing to look at and address what was going on in my life at the time.

Benadryl works for the hives, at least it does for me
