not sleeping at night - any suggestions??!!
I need help sleeping! I average 4-5 hours at the most. I am taking Clonazepram before I go to bed because I am thinking my anxiety is waking me up, I have most recently been prescribed risperdal for my obsessive thoughts and anxiety and I take prescription lunesta. I can fall asleep but wake up at 2 or 3 every morning and can't fall back asleep. Way too many thoughts going through my head!!!! I try drinking warm milk after I wake up and taking tylenol. Nothing is working.
Is there any ideas out there. Anything I haven't thought of?? I need some sleep!

Boy I spent so many nights walking the floors or at the computer and know how bad it is. My mind was everywhere, and kept me awake or I would fall asleep and a noise or anything would shock me into a heart pounding anxiety attack. I was taking motrin for pain also but that didn't work. I would take a anti nausea pill or 2 and maybe fell asleep for a while. Nothing seemed to help me stay asleep for the longest time. I knew that turkey always made me and everyone else tired so I got some turkey, even a swanson turkey dinner if i had to. It helped a lot. Also try a small bowl of cereal before bed, after your clonazepam. Nothing with a lot of sugar. I still eat a bowl of cereal before bed, so does my husband. It helps him too.
Hope it helps you!!

What about wine at night? anything else??? Will I ever sleep again. the anxiety of getting sleep is enough to keep me awake. Help!!!!

Hi Again, guess who..LOL
I thought of something I totally forgot about.
I am on Calcium and when mixed with vitamin c this helps you sleep. My Mom who only slept for 2-3 hours a night is now sleeping 7-8 hours. I also sleep at least 8 hours. I don't take vitamin c but do drink a small glass of orange juice twice a day. I before bed with my 3rd calcium pill. So Sorry I was thinking too far back..although I do eat a bowl of bran and do eat turkey still on occasion. Gee I really hope something helps. it's just no fun at all being awake most of the night.
I'll keep trying for more info for you.
God Bless

Hi Lisalee - I do the relaxation tape (3x) last thing before I go to sleep - I actually do it in bed with the lights out so I don't need to disturb my relaxed self before going to sleep. I've found that this helps with my anxiousness throughout the night. I used to read and be on the computer but this kept my brain working all night.
Hope this helps.

I have tried drinking wine, beer, whiskey...you name it before bed. It helped me fall asleep but soon I would be awake again. It also started becoming a habit so I needed to stop. I take Ambien every night (dont know that thats any better!) and still have a hard time relaxing enough to sleep so I can understand how you feel. It is miserable! However, the last two nights I have slept good. I think its because I listen to the relaxation CD right before I go to sleep. Make sure the lights are off and you do not have to get up. Also, night before last, I woke up in the night like I normally do and I just told myself a few times "there is plenty of time to worry about tomorrow tomorrow, todays troubles are past." Usually, I get mad that I am awake and I get all anxious because I cant go to sleep then I dont sleep for the rest of the night. Its a vicous cycle! Just distracting the thoughts of tomorrow helped me go right back to sleep. It happened twice and both times, it worked. Last night, I slept all night. I hope you do tonight!!!! I think it is mind over matter!

twiggy,
that's exactly what is happening with me. I wake up and can't get back to sleep because of the worries of tomorrow and get anxious etc.,etc. I believe it is mind over matter but haven't gotten to that point that my mind believes me. try, try again! and with the cd.
thanx and I hope I sleep good tonight also!
